Great video man. Maybe I'm a little biased, since I'm a Certified Management Accountant, but I think there's a place for financial accounting and managerial accounting. Companies can't move forward without management accountants looking into the future and guiding decision-making. Also companies can't move forward without financial accountants to help them understand past performance. Overall good comparison.

James, I just want to say thank you so much for posting this video! I have watched a lot of your videos in the past and they are extremely helpful, the best on KZbin. I am currently doing the AAT bookkeeping and accounting course, and even with all my material and Kaplan books I still can't summarise and grasp all the information in one piece. You present this in such a great way and in 9 minutes it explains the whole of unit one of my book which takes me 3 days to read through. (both are a necessity) but this helps me understand and I love the visuals. I never really comment on KZbin videos, but I want to show my appreciation and look forward to your upcoming videos. If there is any way I can support this channel, I'm more than willing to do so. I would love to go to New Zealand and Australia for accountancy, as I am from the UK it's really inspiring to see that you live out there.''I think this is what you said in your debits and credits video'' Thanks again, James!
@AccountingStuff5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, thanks for getting in touch! I originally studied accounting at Kaplan as well - what a coincidence! Their notes are very detailed but it can be hard work getting through them. I think you are approaching your studies from the right angle. Reading the core course materials and getting summaries from KZbin at the same time. I will this was possible when I was at Kaplan (almost 10 year ago now :/). Getting the ACA definitely made it easy for me to find work when I moved out to Aus. Hopefully you'll find it the same as well. Currently I offer all the content for free because I want to help as many people as possible with the subject. Some day I might make a more cohesive course and put it on Patreon. But as of now I'm just happy knowing that you are finding the content useful. All the best with your studies!
@NoNameLondon5 жыл бұрын
@@AccountingStuff 100-percent, James. I absolutely agree, the Kaplan books are a lifesaver, although, it does take time (as you said) to get through. Not to mention some of their classic mistakes in their answers. But they're great, I can't fault them. As I mentioned before, your videos are so informative and I am a visual learner so this is perfect for me, thank you so much again, James.

I'm an Assistant Management Accountant. All those who are studying accounting or want to switch into accounting, go for Management Accounting if you want a career which is more analytical, interesting, not repetitive, and most importantly, satisfying. I worked as Audit Assistant before, and I really enjoy working away from all the boring repetitive work before. But remember, the job scope is less in this field, as most of the Management Accountant roles are only in big companies, you won't find them in small and medium size companies, because as the video mentions, its a luxury position to fill, and not a necessity.
@sohaibi2061 Жыл бұрын
Management Accountant can be also known as Finance Analyst who analyses a lot of financial data to support with internal decision making. It does requires a person with a business type mindset rather than a bookkeeper / auditor mindset. The reason being is that you have to use judgement and business information to make suitable assumptions. Therefore the work can be more expansive but challenging to help provide useful reports (one-off sometimes) compared to our financial accounting neighbors / friends.

Great summary to distinguish between the two. There is lots of overlap between the two. As an example, Internal users can also use external financial statements in driving internal decisions such as determining an entities cost of capital which is focused on a firms capital structure using external financial statements in conjunction with managements acceptable rate. I can go on and on with more examples of them overlapping which makes accounting so granular and interesting. Great video though
