FINCA CANAL UCO 2021 (English)

Finca Canal Uco is a very special vineyard for the family. It was the first vineyard that we planted in the Uco Valley, so it was the beginning of our history here. Finca Canal Uco is situated in Paraje Altamira at 1100 meters; it is the beginning of the Paraje Altamira and along the border of Canal Uco, that is the channel that irrigates all this area.
The position of Canal Uco and the distance to the mountain make that the climate conditions here are extreme - very cold nights and days with a very pure sunlight. The soils, because it is the first part of the alluvial fan, are very, very stony. Big stones, granite stones, surrounded by a thick layer of calcareous material. These extreme conditions and this unique combination in the soils make the wines from here very special.
2021 was a cold and wet harvest, the kind of harvest that we love. The kind of harvest that gives us very fresh wines, but with the intensity of the sunlight that we have here. 2021 has a very beautiful combination of the intensity of the fruit that we have here, in combination with the influence of the native vegetation, and the texture that the calcareous soils give to the wines.
Pureness and transparency is our goal. We want to show the place. We think that pureness is beauty. The verification was in concrete vats, 100 percent whole bunches, and the wine was fermented and aged in concrete, all with native yeasts.
