His strategy relies on presenting soft plastics vertically using long and sensitive rods. He takes us through his rod, reel and line setup, discusses jig and plastics, and how to properly work jigs to temp crappies into biting. A key tip most overlook is putting the time in scanning to find structure, once that's done getting on crappie becomes fairly easy. Hey Walley I'm not sure that was MUD on that crappie LOL I've seen it on several crappie & I just don't think that was mud......😂

All of the major manufacturers have very good small to midsize affordable units. A Humminbird Helix-7 (goo.gl/ubzzmJ) or Lowrance Elite 7 Ti (goo.gl/7ZvTDg) would serve you well.

, do you crappie fish the same spot if there's a 15 or 20 mile per hour wind and if so how do you hold your boat in position do you keep making drifts past it or do you anchor above it or do you simply just stay home that day

+South from Texas oofta, that's a stiff wind for precision crappie positioning. We'd search out calmer water but if wind was the only option, we'd used spot lock on our Minn Kota Uterra or Ultrex to pin to the spot. Realize not everyone has this, so you may want to anchor or just stay on the troll. Drifting would likely be too fast for crappie hanging tight to cover. Then upsize your crappie jig head weight to keep the lure down in wind and feel bites

Absolutely Louis. I've talked to walleye pros that say fishing a colored line or braid direct to the lure in clear water doesn't reduce bites in most situations either. Sure doesn't hurt being able to see your connection to the lure and fish.

So funny...75K fishing boat to find crappie. Enough electronics to go to the moon. You guys are helarious. I build the brush piles and you guys pick them clean. Where is the justice in that. Im not a hater...i just think if you want to fish a brush pile you should put the work in and build it.
