Why not apply formula... b²=c²+a²-2c.a.CosB to get directly BD² i.e. r² and then multiply with π/4.

Kinda cumbersome, actually A B C D four pts co-circular, so, apply Ptolemy's theorm, note bd is r, 4r=4√2+4√6, so r=√2+√6, r^2=8+4√3
