This concept is so genius I think it’s going to be the next urban piano movement after using numbers - I’m definitely using this method next time I’m teaching, very smart 👌🏾

Always wondered why I particularly struggled with b chords, and this maybe why; their shapes aren't common like the white, mountain and oreo configurations

Fantastic! This is how I got instant gratification when I got my first piano (as an adult) and used my guitar chord building knowledge to play without sight reading. I love the white/mountain/oreo/black sheep labels. I just called them claws, lol... This gets you so far so fast when playing from fake books. I know I should use inversions to take the next step from these basic root position chords, but it is faster to jump around than it is to build the muscle memory for the shortcuts. I assume the inversions also work with only 3 or four hand positions, but except for a couple of them, I find them harder to learn and less natural. Well done and expertly explained!

Very easy to follow. I've been playing piano for a year. I don't consider myself self taught because I watch a lot of piano teachers on youtube and other sources but I don't have a teacher I interact with during practice. So it was nice to me to watch this video and go "oh yeah that shape."

Thanks for posting. This is great start on the road to learning chords, but what about the inversions? A world with only root position chords would be very one dimensional. Do you have a system for them too?
