This is the best I have seen. He explains it very well and it makes perfect sense. Excellent video.

Thanks for sharing. I am using this in my geometry class so students know how to fin true north. Who knows is might save someone's life some day.

Great video. You are taking a complex idea and making it simple. I've seen this taught several ways and this was the best.

Do you think the first Surveyor might have used the shadow stick method at times long ago?

so can one use the Shadow Stick Method in order to find true north then compare this to ones compass in order to figure out the correct declination for the area they are in and then they can go to an exact spot on a map and take a pee ???

You forgot to take into consideration of the time of the season.. During winter months the axis of the earth shifts.. thus slightly throwing off your hemisphere explanation. IF you live in Alaska, it'll be a little bit more difficult.

I learned when looking at a Cardinal Cross the west-east direction spells the word "we"

I stopped this video at 1:08.... you said the sun takes the path of the equator. The sun doesn't move therefore your information from this point on means nothing.

joking, right? i love these videos but they go so slow and they tell you everything at least twice. 2 minutes should be tops for this info.

Iron deposits... In the north pole... Dude, that's not how it works
@madcat1007 Жыл бұрын
Actually he was pretty close. The earths magnetic field is created by the movement of molten iron in the earth's core. Only not just at the North Pole. Good video though.
