We started referring to the crafting things as magazines and the set ones as books. It helps my friends and I quickly ask what books or magazines you need.

I put 2 points into salvage operations for the wasteland books. Got all 7 by day 6 to get the increased chance for legendary parts. Did one Savage Country super store and came out with 15 of them!

Seems like not a bad idea to invest in forgetting elixirs mid game so that you can spec a point or 2 into some of the harder to find skill books & then drop them once you finish them if you feel you don’t need them 😌

i play on a heavily modded server & it does say in the salvage op books you can get more wasteland treasure book by putting points onto salvage op...so it's a MOD

You definitely sound annoyed. I can see why, some people like to talk without thinking first. And even in the loading menu before you get into the game, there's tips and hints while you're loading in, BUT, it doesn't specifically say how or where to get wasteland perk books

Yea but I don't like to lol. Even more so with the economy in the state its in. Times are hard for a lot of people. Don't want those people to feel obligated in any way. Donations are nice but its not why I do the things I do. I like to help. Dentations are a bonus.

Really glad people are enjoying the videos. Many seem to be happy about the tools I have created as well so that make me happy too. It amazes me this game has been around for so long and lacks so much info out there. So many other games have been around a fraction of the time and have tools and calculators out the wazoo.

@@Firespark81 There is a lot of info out there but much of is either no longer valid as the game was in Alpha and has quite dramatically changed over time. Now it's in full release many of the fundamentals will not change so tools like yours will become more stable and hopefully remain relevant.

I have seen it offered as a reward from the traders multiple times - the achievement rewards I want to say is where I saw them offered, other then that maybe book related places of interest or food crates?

@@danmolina2724 it is part of the groupQuestSchematics loot group at "veryLow" probability. That group also contains the skillMagazines group at high, perkBooks group at medHigh, and schematicsModsAndGeneralCommon group at med. groupQuestSchematics is a possibility for a reward for any quest, but not any of the challenge rewards. The only other place the recipe is found is in a certain container in a certain location.

I swear I get about the same number of perk books..like, sure i finished the set of my main melee weapon type, but I''ve got 4 or 5 of like ALL of them, even ones I don't have perk points into.

This playthrough I am on has confused me. I had 2 level in Boomstick and found NO shotgun parts. Not when I had 3 venders on day 3. Not when I had 5 venders on day 6, and after I put a 3rd level into Boomstick and the 7th day did I find 5 total out of 6 venders. That is 14 total vender stocks for 5 shotgun parts... and that includes all the missions for the first trader and 3 missions into the Burnt Forest... and hitting at least 6 Pass-N-Gas as well as a a large Mo Power, Crack-A-Book, Working Stiffs, Savage, as well as 2 Shotgun Mosiahs and a Police Stations (mostly in the Burnt Forest and a few in the Dessert). I even went into the Wasteland at night and killed about 7-8 zombie bears and dire wolves until I got killed looking for the parts. I did find a fuel saver mod. That is the other thing. It feels that since 1.1 came out it is really hard to find things like pocket mods and vehicle mods. My last playthrough I was rocking a legendary Scrounger set, max Luck Looter, and Better Barter, and a Treasure Hunters mod and was struggling with finding mods too. I also could not find wheels. By the end of the playthrough on day 21 I found a total of 2 wheels and that was not until I had already made the 4x4. I had to craft 11 wheels... using 11 acid. This sucked to make the bicycle and minibike as I did not have the book to find acid in vehicles nor a wrench (for the bicycle). Does the game just randomly picks a resource and make it super rare? Until 1.1 I would find stuff in the venders that were way above what I could make. Now I struggle to find stuff even at the same level I can make. While hunting for those shotgun parts I also found NO iron tools (ax, pick, or shovel) in all those venders or while looting. I had a point into Salvaging too and was struggling to find the magazines. Then when I finally can make the day seven refresh has level 1 iron tools in stock... all of them... some were more than one. Heck I bought a crucible, made a chemistry station, made a level 2 ratchet, made a full set level 3 Nerd armor, made a level 4 stun baton with repulsor mod, and was about 5 books shot of a motorcycle before I unlocked iron tools. Between this and the shotgun parts and not finding strings forever to make the workbench, bicycle, and wrench at the beginning of the game. I spent a day and a half just trying to find springs. I think it is about 12 total. The venders do not typically sell them either and you can not craft them. Why is the game like that. When the first vender is 1.2km from everything and you have no bicycle it SUCKS.

well, he probably checked the code and tested it. But i was thinking of it since i have 0 books for shotguns on lvl 150+ since i havent spent even 1 point in it but on the other hand everything for pistol and MPs cuz i skilled 5/5 in it.

You know, I think the issue people have is it feels like you're beating up on the game. For instance, many of the perks do tell you what increases your chances of finding particular magazines. As in the lockpicking skill helps you find a certain type of mag that isn't obvious. Some don't but I'm not picking lockpicking just to find magazines. I hardly ever waste a perk in lockpicking. I just buy jailbreakers. So, is it that big a deal? Not really. This game gives you more info and more easily accessible info than just about any other game I've played. Wanna know what recipe something is good for. Click on recipes and it tells you all the recipes it's in. Damage, duration, mobility, all the stats are readily available in the descrip. There are a few minor things that take a little time to figure out, like electricity but for the most part, it's all there. When you say things like "hidden stats" or "things they don't tell you" it sounds like you're accusing TFPs of actively and purposefully doing things to throw gamers off or make things difficult. There is so much going on in this game that there might be some oversights that were missed, haven't been addressed yet or TFPs just felt it wasn't necessary. You may not realize it but for me and a lot of fans of the game, you sound like you hate the game and are disparaging it. I'm going to assume that you don't hate the game and are just finding things that you think players want to know or don't know. You're approach just feels very accusatory and derogatory towards the game and TFPs. I'm not trying to be mean. If you hate the game that's your right but if you don't, you might want to mention that more often.

@@pApA0LeGBa well he cliams he has hundreds of hours playing it but it doesnt feel that way to me. I dunno. Maybe I play different but im not worrying that much about finding magszines. Im having too much fun doing missions and exploring POIs and wasting zombies. Some of it feels a little nitpicky and some of it seems a little useless. Its not really a min max kind of game, ya know what I mean?

But yeah, i don´t see any reason to raise my chances for magazines as well, last thing the game needs is to make progress even faster. It is an annoying mechanic and i would prefer a well done learning by doing (like in Darkness Falls), but if i play vanilla i don´t need any boost for magazines.
