Ragemode is not just vertical, but also horizontal. In some hordebase configurations, this can lead to them entering ragemode while moving up the stairs facing you, resulting in them hitting the top of the stairs.

For everyone saying that zombies cannot jump 2 blocks high. I have experienced zombies jumping 2 blocks high on their own on nightmare speed setting while they are in rage mode.

With ladders start three high and place a ladder block every two blocks. You can still climb even with this gap but the zombies can't.

You only have on 8 zombies at a time. Game stage doesn't matter for that. If you have 30 or more zombies set to spawn per player and you are not playing solo, this entire video falls apart. Just like that pass n gas would

replace bars with scaffolding ladders and you can wire through those. I also agree with others that the plate blocks are not good for building the 'hiding' portion of the base, they can be seen/spit through. use full blocks.

Nice and simple concept, the only thing I dislike about it is the walls made of plates, if for some reason the cops, vultures, (and in certain mods other zombies) spit at you, those walls will not protect you, you need full blocks to do that.

been playing this game on and off since was first listed on steam, also played just about every "hardcore" mod as well. i have never built a horde base.

I did this exact build and gearset organically on my first playthrough, starting as a rogue tho, respeccing later. Just getting almost everything in the game, and reading every item description

FYI. You don't have to craft the weapons and tools to get lvl 6 ones. They are rare but they are lootable. You have higher chances in the wasteland on lvl 6 infested clears. And most times the items are better than what you can craft.

I play this game for keeps. If I die, then it's game over - start again from scratch so I tend to be very careful and not too gung-ho. My record, without getting killed, is day 240, level 267, game stage 607. Game settings were Nomad and max zombies. (This was A20). Horde nights at that stage consisted of swarms of irradiated zombies including many demolition zombies. Over the course of those late game horde nights I would easily face over a thousand zombies. My horde base was made of steel, reinforced with more steel and at the end of horde night I spent most of the next day doing repairs. Somehow, I don't think holing up in a POI would cut it.

LAMO, for years I haven't used a horde base. I grab some friends, we pick a good road and we fight on the run, or I'll set up a small "arena" space with a structure that has refreshments for when I need food, water, or medical before jumping back into the fray. A couple of stacks of ammo equals a great night after a few infested clear quests. Great video btw

My wife and I have been doing the clear the Crack a Book factory. We were having so many issues with the devs jumping puzzle that I just broke open the side door since I have max Miner 69er.

I like the reach of the Spear as well as the piercing effect the talent has for it. It is considered a bladed weapon so you can put the same mods on it as the machete and get the bleed effect. And since they got rid of the stupid throw mechanic, it is much better.

It's weird that you can't picked locked doors in the game but miner 69'er makes it so you can just easily smash through the wall anyway.

I was not aware of the effectiveness of the Stone Sledge for early game. Also, I noticed all the comments about zombie jump height. I too thought they could only jump one block high, but have seen different. Perhaps a glitch or a v1 change/update. But I have had a single zombie jump up to where I am when 2 block high. No other zombie present, so not stacking. Anyway, thank you again. I love seeing, and learning from, your videos.

Parkour, and then keep a couple basic ladder blocks on you. Any trouble, slap a ladder on the wall, at least two blocks high, stick to the wall like Spider-Man and deal with the zombies at your leisure. If they start trying to stack up, if you have the ceiling height for it, place a couple more, climb up and pick up the previous ones.

I was curious about this video. And now I'm not. You're just wrong. You had it set to the minimum number of zombies (8). And low difficulty. Even on the day 700 horde you showed there was one radiated and one feral. That's it. This is not an accurate depiction of how most of the people I know play 7 days to die. At those settings, yeah. You don't need a base, all you need it a bicycle and some coffee. Do another video, call it v2. Set it to 32 or even 64 zombies and at a doable difficulty, like warrior. Suddenly there's so many zombies at once, climbing up your busted stairs, breaking blocks in walls making ramps, what you're showing in both cases would go down REALLY QUICKLY. Then tell me you don't need a horde base and SHOW how you can just run through the city with parkour lv 2. Because then I might agree with you in some cases, and it'd be far more entertaining than your boring creative mode demonstration (if you can even call it that). As is, I have to consider this video as really inaccurate and worthy of a dumpster fire.

Do you have the minimum amount of zombies for horde night??? Because that's really not at horde...that's just 8 zombies. With that few even 8 demos wouldn't be an issue to take out.

All good points. 2 other things that I do in insane nightmare settings to stay alive. I carry spike traps on my hot bar mainly to slow down multiple zombies. Particularly if I am going into the wasteland early, I invest 1 point into "The Infiltrator". This perk has saved my life more times than I can count when running over mines in the wasteland or walking over loose floorboards in new POIs that I am not familiar with. (Yes, I do know there is a skill book that allows you to run over mines without them exploding).

The closest the game has ever come to “objectives” are very recent with 1.0 with trader quests and challenges. Both are optional. The game has never had anything pushing you to do anything else. The devs or anyone else have never hid the fact It’s just a survival game. Literally under the name of the game it says “The zombie survival game”. It’s up to you to make the fun. If you feel standing on a roof not crafting anything is fun then you can do that. If you like a challenge you can turn up zombie block damage, horde spawn size and their difficulty. Glock9 has his Rambling Man series never building a dedicated horde base. Jawoodle waits till day 6 and 23 hours to work on his bases half the time. Prebuilt just fights the horde in the street. So it’s not even like big KZbinrs or anyone have set a status quo. Tl;dr: I’m not saying a lot of people don’t share your beliefs but I think you are applying your beliefs to us (aka projecting). You felt you needed to do something therefore we felt the same, that’s not the case.
