I've been searching all day to learn about relatives. I understood this on the first try. You're a good teacher, not exactly crazy about the background music while I'm trying to think. But you're a good teacher.

Really helpful thanks. A question... Is there a trick to learning the notes of each scale or is it something you need to memorise?
@roialby7118
@roialby7118 4 жыл бұрын
Jack .Inman you can create a major scale using this formula. W means whole step and H means half step. The major scale formula is (W-W-H-W-W-W-H). Pick any note and use this formula to create a major scale. Once you figure out these scales and practice frequently it becomes second nature.

I disagree. Since minor scale sets three semitones earlier than its relative major, it should be arrived at by going back to 3 semitones preceding the major.
@JoelDaveofficial

Since Major scale is considered as the DIATONIC SCALE we use major to minor not minor to major

@@JoelDaveofficial Yes, 6th note of a major scale is also taken to find the minor scale. But it is the octave note of the relative minor which actually starts 3 half notes earlier, so far I understand from other sources. How would you explain it?
@JoelDaveofficial
@JoelDaveofficial 3 жыл бұрын
@@pradeepkumarpanda7626 can you show me the reference of the sources you're talking about
@pradeepkumarpanda7626
@pradeepkumarpanda7626 3 жыл бұрын
@@JoelDaveofficial There are so many videos and books which define both ways but there is one book (I forgot the author's name the soft copy of the book is in my computer which is under repair now) who clearly stated minor scale sets first and this doesn't change the diatonic character of the major which starts from the 3 rd of the minor. For instance if the C major scale starts from octave 3 then it's relative minor is A that started from octave 2.
