Hi Sam, thanks for another great video! I was hoping you would be able to show a step further to rank another layer in the hierarchy. For example, I would like to find out top 5 of regions, then inside top 5 of regions, I need to find out top 1 salesperson; after that I would like to find out top 1 product sold by that sales person. Could you please show me how I can do this? Thank you so much.

Sam thanks for sharing your insights, could you please tell me if it is possible to have a slicer with the options 1) “year” and 2) “months” options, in order to get the top 3 products per year if only the year option is selected (RANKX filtering just by year) or top 3 products per year AND per quarter if both are selected (RANKX filtering by year and month)?

Hi iñigo, Thanks for your comment. Yes, this is very much possible inside Power BI. You may need to use ISFiltered function or similar DAX function. For additional info, you may explore the Enterprise DNA Forum for discussions similar to this one. Also, explore info.enterprisedna.co/dax-guide/dax-function-guide/ for information on DAX functions.

Hi Sam, thanks for all your terrific videos. I love it. You do an awesome job in regards to how to implement power bi. I also purchased one of your courses. Great material. I have a question. Do you also have videos/explainations about the Datea Gateways within Power BI Services so that data will be updated on a specific schedule? Would be great to get some ideas from you. Regards Gunther from Germany.

Hi Gunther, that's great. At the moment I don't have anything specific on that. I will make some updates to the Power BI Super Users Workshop course shortly around setup there. The main focus is more on the analytical side of Power BI, but I will make sure to cover those in more detail as a few have been asking. Chrs

Hi, this is an amazing way to dynamically show values. I have tried to use this measure for olympics data to find out the top 10 athletes with highest medals but it didn't work for me. This was because there were a lot of athletes having won same number of medals and created duplicate ranks in it and if choose to show top 10 values then more than 10 athletes were in the list due to multiple athletes having won the same number of medals hence the same rank. How to edit this measure so that when the total of the expression used is same for multiple rows then correct number of results are shown?

Just change the internal parameters inside the formula. You'll have to make some adjustments but the pattern should be the same
