The main deficiency of most outdoor ranges (except fancy, expensive private clubs) is that they lack a short distance component for the serious golfer to work on the money shots: everything from sixty yards on in. So the use of the simulator has a lot going for it. When I lived in Minnesota there was a golf dome that had incredible equipment on each station that showed distance, spin, and other parameters. I believe it was similar to what Top Golf uses. Unfortunately, post pandemic the facility stopped selling affordable senior buckets in the morning and went to a price per half hour. Not good for taking time to work on the swing. Rake and hit is not my style. I wish there was an equivalent to Moore's Law when it comes to golf shot analytics. Trackman isn't really in most people's budgets and the less expensive units, well you get what you pay for.
