Tago was on fire at that time, but LD was one step ahead of everyone.

Yeah, Tago is far better than Naraoka in my opinion, can't imagine if he was on the badminton court in this era, a powerful wrist, and this video also shows the dominance of LD at that time.

What made LD (STILL) the best is that he plays you. True smart player. I love that he is not eager to make smashes and fast shots all the time. He makes them at the right time with patience. Unlike badminton nowadays. SUPER BORING to watch because all they does is see who can out-smashes or out-run each other.

I 100% agree. since BWF use slower birds nowadays, players will lose a lot of energy if they keep attacking, at the same time because of the birds they cannot kill opponents.

At this time, everything in LD was of a high standard, and it was appealing that it was quite finished for the London Olympics later.

people shit on LCW for always losing to LD (which to a degree is accepted since their H2H record absolutely destroys LCW), but a good amount of their games is always pushed to 3 sets and is a close game. Look at this game for example, LD beats the shit out of everyone during his prime and only LCW gives him a real challenge. If LCW wasnt born during LD era, LD would dominate singles so clearly itd almost be boring to watch badminton. Shout out LCW for being probably the only real opponent to challenge LD for his throne, but at the end of the day LD is GOAT

You forgot about Chen Long. He gave both Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei a hard time in a lot of matches.

That time Lindan was a level higher than anyone of the players in the world, including Lee Chong Wei even they're in the same skill tiering just mentally & physically stronger by Lindan. 2010-2012 Totally mature period of Lindan

In case anyones wondering, this is prime LD. Anything after 2014... sure he may have still been the best... but this LD would destroy old man LD any day, which means yes, any modern day player.

Amazing display of control and pace from Lin Dan, Tago was simply more irritated and rushed, leading to him making more errors and taking poorer shot choices, contribuing to his loss in this match. Slight error in the description also Badminton Finder, Lee Chong Wei fights Lin Dan sooner in the Semi's if I recall 😂

Yes, they do that sometimes~ I saw Taufik did this to his opponent once. A friendly way to comfort the opponent I guess.

Wonder what tension they were using on their racket back in the day, sound a lot different compare to nowadays atheletes, feel like they used to have lower like 11-12kg on their racket
