Expanding on Stan Lee's sentiment, any writer can say anything about their characters and it would be true. Demon Slayer's author could say the base person's power level in her manga is Goku level, therefore Tanjiro is much stronger than Goku. At the end of the day they are all fictional. Reminds me of those most powerful Marvel characters lists where all the characters are beyond infinity (E: A lot of people got too caught up in the Demon Slayer example and missed my point. Honestly, I think the strongest character would be Yogiri Takatou from Instant Death Ability that is airing this season. I don't know how much the anime will cover so I don't know if it will show up there but Yogiri can kill anything, person, mater, concepts of the world like time. The main thing is that he knows when he will be killed by anything before it happens. If you read the light novels, there are people who could kill Goku easily, ie a weapon that will travel back in time to kill you before you were born.

So far, the strongest character I've seen in any anime is Lord of Nightmares from Slayers. But, well, she basically has admin commands. In SCP terms, those are called Reality Benders. And even they can't kill one stupid tough lizard. Only SCP-2935 could. But you could probably find like 100 characters that could beat Goku in SCP universe, and around 20 that can beat his meat, like the annihilation vibrator, SCP-297.

To be honest one of the easiest characters to use to beat Goku is Rimuru from reincarnated as a slime. By the end of the series he's a nearly omnipotent God that can destroy multiverses on a whim if he feels like it. If he were to fight Goku he would be able to blink him out of existence while mowing his lawn or reading the morning newspaper. This is not a shitpost I'm being real. He would destroy Goku's verse along with him as well just for shits and gigles.

Im surprised that Issei Hyoudou (High school DxD) wasnt mentioned on the list. Considering how his Sacred Gear (Boosted Gear)doubles his powers almost Indefinitely. Add on his Divide Gear he acquired from the White Dragon he's able to Divide his opponent's powers (by half ) almost indefinitely too. It's a debate in the long run but I believe Issei has a chance even if slightly.

I8:27 Raddits is dodged piccolos relativistic speed blast so Goku blitzes him. By the logic of vegeta going from being slower than to blitzing Burter with his power increase between the saiyan to freeza saga simply because getting stronger means you get faster, Goku would be far faster than light.

Remember that in DragonBall Super, even Krillin (after becoming even weaker than he was in DBZ) beat Goku while he was in SSB. So with that standard in mind, laterally anybody can beat him.

Gojo is one of those characters that, if it was DBZ, Goku would lose against his hax, but the hax would be useless against the season's real villain who just uses boring ass Jiren immunity against it. Same for Gold Experience Requiem: it's always the badguys who inexplicably bypass hax by just being overpowered (see Super Buu shouting so hard he escapes from the Room of Space and Time)

There is one who is more willing to fight Goku in a sparring match.. Often many lists forget to include Tenchi Masaki aka Kami Tenchi from Tenchi Muyo. as character who can defeat Goku. Tenchi Masaki is one of the few anime characters who will not fight unless he has no choice. Due to being a swordsman, Tenchi has an advantage over Goku. Yet Tenchi's best technique to defeat Goku is to exhaust him. Oddly to help with other powerful swordsmen, Tenchi can teach Goku a variety of Dodging moves. When it comes to being a fighter, Tenchi is the Master who pretends not to be very powerful to any of his students. When Tenchi is provoke, he becomes Kami Tenchi. Kami Tenchi is Tenchi after he masters almost all of his powers. Odd fact. Tenchi's half brother Kenshi Masaki has one of the largest harems in anime. Simply because most of his fellow female students have a crush on him.

​​@@ryana5435For a non-meme answer, it's kind of difficult to compare them because magic isn't really a thing in the DBZ world. Buu is kinda the closest it got and Goku needed a lot of help to beat kid Buu (in a literal sense, the energy from everybody in the galaxy). Cid is the best fighter in his new world but only because the more sophisticated martial arts methods he learned on Earth didn't exist. So Goku would be the better fighter. Feat wise, Cid's strongest attack made a massive crater in the middle of a large city. If he really was scalable to say a hydrogen fusion bomb that could decimate an entire large city. Goku can blow up a planet. So in sheer destructive force, Goku would be stronger. Cid is the strongest being in *his* new world but that's just because nothing has been shown to be all that strong compared to him. It's possible Aurora (Diablos) is but the story hasn't gotten to that yet. Goku isn't the strongest being in his story. Whis, Beerus, Zeno, even Jiren are all stronger than Goku (it took Goku fully mastering UI, Vegeta, Golden Frieza, and 17 to actually beat Jiren). Could even argue Vegeta is stronger than Goku when Goku doesn't have plot armor engaged.

One pick for a character that could maybe beat goku that’s always underrated is notorious B.I.G. from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. For those who don’t know, this is a stand stand activated AFTER the user died (normally stands disappear in jojo after a character dies so that made it basically invincible from the get go) that has the ability to match the speed with whatever the fastest thing in its range is, catch up to it, and “absorb” it. Between being unkillable, damaging goku on any hit he tries, and matching him in speed I think lil bro has a chance
