At the start was thinking the only option to keep them authentic 85s would be to sole swap them with the 85 breds released from a few years back. Then thought he's not going to do that and was impatiently disappointed for absolutely no reason. You then go and prove me completely wrong and do the correct thing. John I really appreciate your efforts I also restored three such one two mine and one bought in UK thrift shop buy two beading needles they are long and fine around 0.4 mm or so and saddle stitch it no machine needed saddle stitch is way stronger than machine stitching I'm also doing fine luxury leather items repair more than 15 years me and my family do own lots of bag luxury shoes belts etc I like to repair and refurbish them a lot.Just wonder which size thread are those shoes using I don't remember anymore😂 btw always use bonded thread they are much stronger.
