Clean the contact points on the distributor with some sand paper. Usually they get corroded when sitting for long periods of time

Yo! I would recommend you take the OEM fuel pump out completely and just put a block off plate, since you're not sure what's causing it to not work. Don't want to risk any random easily avoidable damage

I'm working on restoring a 1963 Ford F100 and I did the exact same thing to my fuel pump. Electric fuel pumps are so much easier to work with than the mechanical ones.

Hey robbie you should check the gear on the distributor because it could be sheared off and thats why you are not getting spark but also why your not getting fuel because the pump runs off of the distributor.

The dash goes in also with the windshield installed. You just have to drop down the steering column a bit (two screws on the upper part of it). I also didnt catch - did you sort the pump problem? There are two things that can make problems. 1: a distributor that doesn't have a cam on its shaft to drive the pump (for example from a newer CIH engine with contactless ignition), or: 2: do you have a spacer between a pump and timing cover? There should be around 5mm thick spacer which also acts as a seal. Check!

Try cleaning the points with some fine grit sandpaper, and also make sure they are gapped correctly. The condenser might not be functioning properly also.

You can actually take out the windshield without taking out the dash, I've done it on my Manta and I have a video about it (Dassasembling part 3 if anyone wants to know how) and the principle/method applies for many old cars. Anyways, sucks that the project stalled for now but I can't wait to see the final reveal! Such awesome cars, I am a few steps behind this Manta with mine but I can't wait to be at the stage when we fire it up! :) Stay committed!

All u have to do is sand paper the points and get rid of the corrosion on em and the cap and the ignitor i forgot what its called just use some scotch brite on it or sand paper and itl work like a champ

you should try to pump the gas pedal while starting, lots of cars with carbs need that to start properly

You may have already figured this out but 6:30 that is the "points" the "Booty clap" can be cleaned with really fine sand paper to clean not remove any of it. the point will need to be set so they open and close to a specific distance open (this requires a feeler gauge).

Thunderhead289 has some great content on breaker point ignitions. They all work the same. You should be able to make it fire with what you have there. Mustie1 also has great breaker point content. it doesn't matter if it's an old ford, VW or Opel, they all work the same. Don't give up.

Get a new (HT- hight tension coil), check and clean the contact breaker points(clapper) using sand paper, replace the condenser in the distributor, clean the rotor arm using sand paper. Make sure about the advance-retard mechanism. Normally cars will be 6-8 degree advance before TDC ✌️

Probably the timing is Off, the timing in these cars is based on the position of the crank when you put the distribuitor on the engine, i’m pretty shure you did that wrong, or you frogot the signal FOR the ignition coil in the wiring!

A mechanical fuel pump is not very good at sucking air, which could be why you keep having trouble. You need to get fuel to the pump in order for it to pump. 👍
