Google satellite maps are great to. I like lots of tree cover. Last year we stayed at rocky gap park in Maryland on the dog loop every site has its own path to the bath house it was great. Then other places we stayed it was a hike to the bathhouse. My best advise use every resource available and enjoy

Great intro video, but I was hoping for more details regarding the types of sites that are available. E.g pull through, back-in, drive up, etc. I've also found that there are several sites that seem to be backwards for RVs. By that I mean that when you back in to them, the fire pit and picnic table are on the back side. Some of these dont even have enough room to extend an awning. Maybe a follow up video that outlines certain site types and site pitfalls to watch out for? Your videos are great! Keep up the good work! We always search your videos for info and how-tos!

Jesse, that’s for the comment and suggestions for future videos. There likely is a follow-up video on this. All the best!

Another informational video. As an experienced tent transitioning to trailer, good to see the same principles apply all over the country. Just completing a 3500 mile trip from Texas to the poconos being able to choose your campsite is great.

Enjoy, it is an underrated Michigan rec area, but has a lot of hiking and mt biking opportunities, as well as water sports. Have a great time!

Thanks John, love your videos. As a newbie we are picking up a 195 next week. The more we learn the more we realize we need to know. We spent a lot of time figuring out what trailer to get, then more time on what items we need to provision the trailer, now it's time to figure out where to go. How to book? Apps to use? We booked our fist trip only to find out the lots are not properly numbered and our river site - not so much. Oh well. We're interested in getting away from crowds for short trips of just a few days (for now). In that light; many questions follow: where/when to fill up water tank? Power needs? What to do when we leave (black and grey tank). Anyhow - thanks and keep the videos coming!

Frank, if you are truly going to camp away from people (boondocking), you will need to put water in your tanks prior to heading out or find some place closer to your destination. If you go to a state park, you can likely fill with water when you get to the park (potable water only). I would recommend Campendium.com and AllStays.com (and their apps) to plan RV travel and to find things like public dump stations and where to fill propane. Most state parks have shore power to hook up to. Boondocking, you'll need a generator or solar to run things and/or keep your batteries charged. Hope this helps!

Great tips John! We use campsitephotos.com a lot - google earth too. Sometimes we completely wing it - I will read The Moon West Coast Camping Guide, get ideas and just drive in & get an open site - pre-COVID of course. I hear everything is packed in CA & OR these days...

John what sites do you like for planning trips? Especially to Florida, out west or Smokies? Bruce

I like Campendium.com to plan in general. I use the Florida State Park website when looking for camping in Florida. The state parks there are generally an outstanding value. Thanks!
