That house they almost bought seemed so perfect... Great location, great views, garden, enough space. But then it wasn't enough bang for their buck... I am having trouble picturing them finding anything they'd both like that wasn't just double their budget.

No way would I ever buy an ex slaughterhouse, no matter how 'beautiful' it looked!

Agreed. Not only that they had nowhere near the budget to convert the ruins.

@@katbar6066 I was once offered a lovely rental across from, and with a great view of, a slaughterhouse. I'm a vegetarian. Just the thought of living there made me cry.

@@eleanoraquitaine2966I agree that would have been awful. I am heading towards being fully vegetarian. It has been a slow road. It was easy to cut out Beef, Lamb, Pork and Chicken. I haven't eaten meat for over 20 years now. Cutting out the Seafood has been harder but I am getting there.

@@katbar6066 I started by cutting out all mammal meat and ate only fish and poultry for 40 years. Then I went vegetarian, almost totally vegan, to lose weight (65 pounds) 8 uears ago and it worked. To keep off the weight, 8 years later, I'm still a vegetarian, almost vegan and, most importantly, I eat a lost less---albeit healthier than ever---food. It's been and continues to be worth the struggle. Good luck om your journey. The hardest thing for me to give up was fish and seafood, byw.

I love watching Kirstie and Phil in these programmes. But always notice with lots of property show, and I find myself saying, "Take your shoes off before you walk onto carpet" For reasons... keeping the carpet clean, for hygiene, for respect to the home owners.

You knew there was trouble when she said (twice) they would "fight like cats and dogs" if the offices were too close. This relationship was doomed.

When was this filmed. My guess the early 2000s. The prices seem more than reasonable compared to today.

These two want a castle at the price of a hut. Not only that but a castle that is in the city and the countryside at the same time. Perhaps they should consider a Tardis.

In the US, HGTV scripts their House Hunters with couples like this that want two very different things. I suspect that this pair - if they stay together - will continue to live separately for a while.

So picky. There was nothing wrong with that Kendal house and they could have easily had a summerhouse home office on the patio. Plenty of space, perfect location, great house, great price.

Makes me giggle "we want" spoken by one person - they need to listen to themselves - selfish is the word "we're" looking for, i.e., my needs are most important --

Cavernous barn conversions have all their space overhead where it's not useful and they are usually just badly laid out. The second house was CLAUSTROPHOBIC (and had that awful swirly bad plastering effect that gives me the heebie-jeebies). The attic room with a stair up the middle was simply STUPID. For children, maybe. But NOT for adults. So, I'd have said 'no' to the first three also.
