For veterans Orlando is amazing. Most companies here in Orlando and it seems like Florida in general love veterans and will try to hire them since most have technical background.

If you're an unskilled worker you'll be very hard pressed to make a living in Orlando (or most places). There isn't much industry other than the theme park/food service industries and most of those jobs are hourly paycheck to paycheck. White collar skilled workers like accountants would have an easier time, nurses too will always be employable there.

Great tips Sean. Conveying how you can make an impact on a company’s strategic initiatives is what makes you sticky. Taking an appreciation and aligning with culture is just as important. If you can read a pro-forma- great- but simple ‘investor relations’ or ‘company news’ is where you can best focus your homework on.

Thank you so much for this. I've been with McDonald's for over 20 years and could apply at any McDonald's in the Orlando area, but that's no guarantee of gainful employment.
@franciscoechevarria1744 жыл бұрын
Dee, there's, many McDonald's in the St. Cloud, Kissimmee and Orlando area. Especially around and close to the amusement parks. The only bad thing now is the Covid-19. And many places closing down, including small businesses due to the pandemic, it's a chain reaction people are not going to the parks as before! Even though that area has always been number one in the whole United States in employment due to all the parks, stores, outlet stores, restaurants, hotels, so many fast food restaurants, motels, in the medical fields, Orlando airport. Even though I heard a couple of days ago one of the major airlines in the Orlando Airport was laying off more than three hundred and fifty employees due to very few people traveling from the airport, especially from other countries coming to Orlando to go the parks.which is hurting the hotel , parks, gift shops, restaurant, outlet stores, car rentals, taxi, Uber, Lift and more industries. I should know because I live in Tampa, Florida. Just about a 45 minute drive from Kissimmee and I read about and see it every week on You tube , the news everyday. The two fields that are in high demand there and everywhere are in the medical field, and teachers when and if schools open back up again. I know here in Tampa Florida many teachers are afraid to go back to teaching due to the pandemic! Good luck everybody and stay safe!

The bit about putting keywords in white is genius! So many companies use resume reading software especially for professionals and if your resume doesn't have the right keywords it will get kicked out before a human ever even sees it.

While not nearly as glamorous, there are also industrial/warehouse jobs in the Orlando surrounding areas. Like the Lowe's distribution center in Kissimmee. There's a Walmart distribution center in Winter Haven. Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser. Amazon. Publix, Walgreens, CVS. Petco. McLane. Office personnel, warehouse workers, forklift drivers, etc.

How would one go about searching for those jobs? What would that job entail? Pay? Curious for my fiance. He is a heavy equipment operator here in CA.

Agree, Sean. The jobs I have had in FL told me they never would have called me if I did not already live here...because so many people say they are moving here and they never do. Unfortunate but true. Employers assume people who are really serious will always find a way to move without finding a job first if they have to. Which is usually true. I've found risk/dedication is rewarded over someone playing it safe and saying "I won't move until you promise me a job" ...at least this was my and my husband's experience.

I work in HR and I will say you can put your address... It's kind of unavoidable sometimes because your current job could give ur location away. However, you can put your intention to move in your cover letter and application answers (but yeah, don't make it contingent on that job, you need another reason). That's how I got a job across the country :-) Also, I got my current job through Indeed!

Do not make false statements on your Disney application. They may hire you but the background check sometimes lags behind the hireing. When they do a background check on you they will terminate you for false statements.

I noticed the same thing when applying for jobs out of state, I was told by many sources if you're from out of state you'll get turned down. Just my opinion, but yeah you'll definitely get turned down if you are not an orlando resident already.

@davidsamuelson23884 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if you are going to move to the Orlando area from outside of the area, you would want to find an employer and the job that is going to have you want to move there as an experienced person that makes a living wage. The advice here seems to be for somebody that is going to be working part-time, or if an employer needs somebody to be absolutely local, that job isn't going to be worth it anyway. Essentially, what you're asking from the employee is that the job is going to be not what it takes to be worth it for somebody to want to move down there and make a decent living doing something.
