Hello everyone! Thank you for your insight about manufacturing the duck pattern. It did not occur to me that this might cause concern with the original designer's pattern, so I appreciate you all bringing this to my attention. I in no way intended to harm the original creator and was lost in the fact that she said we could sell the final product - meaning handmade goods! I have reached out to the original creator to get her input on the situation and will NOT be selling the plushies regardless ❤. I have NOT and will not sell these items unless I get permission from crcochetedbyel. Again, thank you all for bringing this to my attention! It’s easy to lose sight and get caught up in something I shouldn’t have, so I sincerely appreciate everyone’s feedback😊🩵

regardless on her answer, you should stop making it. It leaves a bad taste and can in the end coast you more then you are willing to pay. What would you think if someone did this to you and first very late in the process reached out to you? So even if you get permission, it has harmed you and your bussines, because you knew from the very get go that ist wasn't your pattern. I hope that people won't buy the duck, if you continue.

You can say you got lost in the fact that she said we could sell the final product. I do not understand how you can think it is ok to take someone else hard work that they have given to you to use for free and mass produce it. I am glad that you traded out to her but for me personally it is to little to late. I personally hope she tells you no.

Im pretty sure the pattern you used was intended for sale of HANDMADE crocheted plushies. That youre manufactoring someone elses pattern is awful. What if this starts a trend and you in fact hurt the entire crochet community. I feel this is horrible and if you cant keep up with the demand of crocheting them by hand as intended then enlist some friends to help you out or take orders like the rest of us do, dont have them made overseas my god.

Serious question: did you not do that before? Fabric plushie patterns pretty much always have that, so I thought the one or two crochet patterns I looked at were flukes
@flootzavut30daychallenge3 ай бұрын
@@OneVioletRoseI don't think it occurred to most crochet pattern designers that someone would attempt to mass produce their design; it's not possible if you are crocheting it (crochet can't be mass produced in any real way, someone could have a sweatshop make it I guess, but it can't be made on a machine), and it doesn't generally occur to someone that someone else might steal their design and make it into something that is able to be mass produced. A plushie made out of fabric is already inherently something there's a possibility you can take and mass produce, turning a crochet item into that requires more thought. (Which is kind of why so many people are flabbergasted/doubtful that a person could do this without going "huh, maybe I should ask the designer" 🤦🏻)

This was a very insightful video about the manufacturing process 👍 However, I do agree with the others that the duck design belongs to crochetedbyel; and they do mention that they do not want the design to be copied or heavily referenced. They only allow the finished crocheted product to be sold. Unless you have their explicit permission, then of course disregard this part of the comment. Otherwise, I would urge you to reconsider mass producing their design. It won't bode well for your small business in the long run if the issue arises with crochetedbyel. You can easily design your own version of the duck and continue your "build your own duck" line.

You took someones pattern and manufactured it without permission from the creator of the pattern. You are correct, the creator did say you could sell the final product of the handmade good but you had it manufactured which is not "handmade." To make things worse, you have never given her proper credit for the pattern. I'm sorry but what you are doing is wrong. It falls in the same category as people that take a pattern, make a couple of changes and then sell it as their own. It's all wrong.

There are safety standards for toys in USA. I would bet the China manufacturer does not meet standards of safety. You are opening yourself up to lawsuits if some child chokes on those eyes. Are there sharp pins on the interior of the eye? Is there a warning label saying not suitable for young child especially if contains magnets for head/hat? Don’t donate the toys…just destroy them.
