It’s so important what paper do you chose. It gaves mixed media paper. That looks that you chose the wrong paper but I love the motive ❤

I've heard layering thicker gouache onto thinner/more watery underlayers makes it less likely to reactivate the lower layers. I haven't tried it out myself yet though

my favorite was the goauche i loved how blendy it got yet was opaque. it just felt cohesive. some of the others felt almost streaky. i need to get in on goauche. which i have some but i have a bunch of acrylic paint i need to use up.

Try soft body acrylics, I think your style leans more towards more liquid applications rather than heavy body liquitex.

loved to see this kind of comparison-I have only used watercolor and recently tried the Holbein acryla gouache- I found it tedious to clean up tho! so thanks for the palette tip 😉 I have a bunch of regular gouache loaded up in a cart online because I have been itching to try that next. I really like the way the regular gouache turned out on your painting. good indicator that I would like it too so going to finalize that cart!! 🤗
