I’ve forwarded your video to Winnebago and informed them foam isn’t a structural member of a roof. Here to help the algorithm.

GENIUS! That was a great decision on adding the aluminum truss supports. I would much rather pay a little more to overbuild than to build back to factory specs which we all know is junk.

If they admit there is a problem, imagine the liability they would open themselves up to. Even units that have no existing problems would want a repair. They would absolutely go out of business if they opened themselves open to this. Right now a civil lawsuit (not class action) would be Winnebago's best-case scenario and nightmare scenario would be a class-action lawsuit. There might be some mention of expected settlements if you review their 10-k filed with the SEC?

I got an old 90s Brave. I plan to laminate with epoxy and fiberglass instead of filon. I plan to tie the roof into the walls seamlessly. I did fiberglass repair in a past life. It will give great structural integrity. I may epoxy the wood to the foam instead of glue. But truly the glue may be safer to allow delamination incase the wood ever takes on water. So you can peel off the layers above the foam.

James, You need to go see Bad Chad bend steel square tube. Basically, he lifts it up from one end and slams the end on the concrete a few times. It should work on aluminum as well. Surprisingly it makes a very smooth arc and he just cuts off the bent end. He would have been done before you got your first roll through that machine. Best wishes, Kevin

I like the aluminum tube support. Looking forward to the next installment. I’m still unclear. Is the roof dropping because of glue failure? Looks like something else is going on. Not enough initial support? As someone engineering trained, I would think there would be more rib roof support. Thanks for the video
@AZExpert2 жыл бұрын
Glue failure, well and because of the fact the design is bad
@davidmcgee21262 жыл бұрын
Wow. I’ve seen a few roofs like that and there was water damage and assumed that’s what caused it. But seeing what you took off it’s apparent that’s not water damage We have never fixed one like that. The ones like that were total losses. The water had ruined most roof features and got into the walls and floors I see more good than bad Winnebago roofs though. So many factors for adhesive failure. 1 guy having a bad day could mess up some runs, bad batch of glue. Not excusing Winnebago. Just have to wonder how many roofs like that have been written off as water damage to bad sealant when the roof failed so the sealant failed.

I would be worried that the new truss will make the new roof separate from the styrofoam. All the bouncing when driving, the arch will hold up the new wood and roof, but the inside will want to fall. It may work, but there is a big IF!
