My lawyer didn't understand narcissism when I told him I'd been abused by one. Or if he did, it didn't get the result I expected. I thought it would explain a lot to him about my psychology and the parenting I'd received growing up, and thus what sort of person my Dad was and illicit sympathy. But after I told him, he started treating me with less respect and lost interest in my case. He seemed to have an excess of sympathy for the other party's interests, and he no longer wanted to take it to court. He could see the CPTSD in me, and was both concerned how I would come across in court (as crazy and non-credible), and for whether I was able to bear up through the process "I don't want you collapsing on me". So we settled after 4 volleys, and I did not get justice as the child of a hurtful narcissist. Just watched the Britney vs. Spears doc and it rang a bell. He refused to let control of her go. My Dad had plans for the control to continue after his death.

You can’t. Unless the attorney has gone through the abuse himself he or she won’t “get it.”

I've met so many dealing with these people. The Depp court battle has helped exposing this disorder, however so many of us have and are continuing to be abused by them. Why don't court systems understand it, when they see it daily?

Yes I never bothered trying to get an official diagnosis for my ex because it’s not illegal or unlawful to have a personality disorder. A court is not going to care about a diagnosis.

i feel this is BS as ones in the positions that 'could' help are often narcissists themselves who are helping to cover up and enable the narcissists who are exploiting and profiting from the one being abused by the narcs I was adopted into narcissism and being silenced by them and their enablers....lawyers are some of the greediest people out there
