I don’t have the room...
But sometimes you find these bargains and you just have to make room.
It may seem sacrilege but the parts on the ladies bikes are more valuable to me as parts for others than as a whole bike. The Rudge, I may look at restoring.
I have lots of eBay searches set up that I check regularly but the main one is a search in the Bicycle category. Just looking at that category as a whole. No search terms. I’ve just set a location search and a price range and trawl through regularly to see if there are any bargains. That’s how I discovered these two.

You know, you might have better luck selling them if you stop calling them 'ladies' bikes' and start calling them 'step thru bikes'. Step thrus are good for anyone with knee and/or hip issues who can't swing their leg over a diamond frame. Just a thought.

Enjoyable video again fella. Living in france I prefer to use "le bon coin" rather than ebay. But same principles apply, check other items and try for bike lots, I rarely pay more than 20 or 30 euros for a bike, and I love driving out into the middle of nowhere to pick them up. Bon continu..

Ah that looks like a GumTree style website. Sometimes the drive out to get a bike is just as enjoyable as the bike itself.

Royal Enfield. Manufacturers of arms and ammunition hence the canon, they then moved into motorcycles and bicycles. The motorcycles are still built under licence in India I think.

I have a very similar Rudge from 1963, it is black, but it doesn't have the frame lock. I like the chainwheel design, and even though it is hidden, I know it's there!

Thanks for taking the time to upload the vid, as usual really interesting and a pleasure to watch. you are spot on though, the lady bike just wouldn't be viable but that rack is wonderful just so honest and that caliper is a stunning piece of engineering you have some good parts that have been lucky enough to find themselves in your hands.

The way I look for bargains on eBay is to do a search for just 'bike'. Make sure the category is set to Sporting Goods > Cycling > Bikes, then set condition to 'used' and sort by 'nearest first'.

Hi mate I have stripped loads of these old Ladys bikes,.. as we know some bikes are worth more in bits and these typically are good brakers, on the other hand seeing as you paid 0.99p for it you could put it on a £45 and wait... this would free up time,,, ie not getting involved. And the bike survives

Hi. Did you ever strip down the 4 speed hub? I can't find a useful video on KZbin for servicing a 4 speed; however, there are plenty for a 3 speed. I hope you made a video of it if you did. Thanks and keep up the great work, both in restorations and videos.

Me and my wife in the late 90s had a very bad experience with a seller in eBay and I'll never shop on there again but strictly wish and Amazon which is bad for eBay because I spend at least 200 $300 a month on bike parts camping gear food dog stuff pet supplies granted it's not the best amount but that's a study $300 last 5 months so

Your alloy Sturmey hub is an FM which is a four speed medium ratio. That is pretty rare and an excellent find. Great video!

Put Sun CR18 rims on it. Lighten it, goes with the alloy shell, and you can re-use the spokes (same spoke length).

i got 50s mifa i pimped it one gear was not enough plus front brake rubbed on tyre no more but you can still buy new rod breaks in italy

There is no harm in using a step through bike as a donor to a more valuable bike.

I used to when I renovated bikes, collection only go for cheaper. I drive a lot for work which helps, or I plan a day out with the Mrs in a local area to the seller, feels less like using fuel just to collect the bike that way.

Profit is a big part of it sure, without it I wouldn't be able to do anything. I've taken a few hits over the years on builds but I still had the enjoyment from the build :)

Great find and video. The hand on the chain ring is the Red Hand of Ulster, Rudge Whitworth made a motorcycle called the Rudge Ulster after one of their motorcycles won the Ulster Grand Prix which had a lot of prestige at the time. They carried on the theme on the bicycles. Restore the Rudge as I reckon they are quited desirable and using the ladies bike as a donor sounds like a good plan.
