Finding Cheshire’s Beavers @ Hatchmere Delamere Forest Jan 2022. I didn’t but what an amazing place!

Ok there are long shots and then this!! They are in 10 very well protected acres in the beautiful Delamere Forest in West Cheshire. Honestly think only way you’d see them would be at height of summer with the very short nights. The real find was the peace there with the wind in the trees. A lovely find and one I’m going to take people too! Stay safe Paul

Very interesting that, Paul👍 I'd heard about other releases but wasn't aware they'd done one in Cheshire! You'd probably need a comfortable seat and night vision goggles to actually see one I bet! 😁

Hi there PJ - was great to find your videos. I had been walking along that part of Hatchmere for some time quite frequently and wondered what that fence was for.. So much so, inspired by you, I went back - also with camera in hand, to film any possible sighting as well as take a drone up (just posted). Alas! no such sighting. Yes, wildlife reintroduction is great. I thought it would be a great spot to reintroduce the red squirrel and I see this is also an interest of yours. I remember there being plenty in Delamere and elsewhere some 30 years ago. It is really quite sad that the UK is not actively bringing back the native red squirrels (or that nothing was done during the obvious decline those decades ago). ATB Stephen.

I’ll have a good look at your film! I just think we need to push forward what is natural to a particular environment. It just should be! At least our films get people talking about it and that’s a start! Thank you Paul

Thank you for that lovely walk. I do hope you find them one day. I have seen evidence of beavers in our area but have yet to see them at work in the woodlands. All the best to you from snowy and cold Massachusetts!:)

We usually get beavers in areas where we don't want them...so they end up being captured and moved to more suitable locations. Hope it does work out in this area. Take good care now...Bruce and Otis

We definitely need them Bruce with the way the land has been changed. Rewilding is a big issue in UK as conservationists put forward a great argument for what it can do. Problem is we’re probably 400 years not used to having our natural wildlife. One to pursue. Paul
