You really are such a tonic Dan, especially in such lovely setting, when you've had a rotten day, and you come on, all smiley and happy and SO interested in everything around you, it really brings a wee ray of sunshine into dreary Scotland.

Nice video. Your editing keeps getting better and better. I liked the beginning music/video cuts and the wave action with your singing (also not bad). I half expected a "ponder" on the cliffs, as you do. Keep up the good work.

The last time I went to Pet Level was in 1999 . That was November too . Was with the Ravensbourne Geological Society at the time . Rocks are likely to be Lower Cretaceous . Tunbridge Wells Sandstone with Wadhurst Clay on the top , Possibly Hastings Beds in the area too . I've found Lepidotus Fish Scales and Teeth there , but you also get Shark teeth in those rocks too . Nice Bivalve fossils at 9.27 . The same light grey sand is at Rock a Nore Hastings . Sometimes it's so weak , you can crush it in your hands . There's also a White harder and grainer sand rock too . There is a Gastropod down them ends called Viviparus . Fossilised sea bed , thats the way topped rock . I got cut off by the tide at Eastbourne back in the early/mid 90's . I had to climb up a chalk cliff . Unlike you I was in a lot more danger . If I hadn't had a massive screwdriver , hammer and one tiny ring of metal sticking out of the cliff . I possibly wouldn't be here to day . Very cold and shivvering . Had to haul myself over the Ivy on the top of the cliff after I warmed up a bit . Also a Grand Design house at Pet Level . The day i went there in Nov 1999 . The weather was great for me too .

Africa pushed upward, but the land was pushed up and raised. What you see used to be a lot lower down and has a chalk layer on top, which has now eroded away. None of the Pett area was African. I’ve been here many many times as I live locally. I love the area for Fossilling as well as for its Geology

Well Dan your outing to Cliff End was close to the truth, the trees under the sea are about 5,000 years old. England used to be attached to France. The cliffs are, wait for it br.......120million years old in the Cretaceous period. Those bubbly things were fossilised bivalves (cockles). When you get home see if there's a club near you that would lead you in the right direction of fossils. I will be by Galley hill Bexhill tomorrow at about 10-00am with the hound. Kia Ora.

Occasionally when hunting pastures one runs across non-fossilized evidence that cows have been there. The rocks in the sequence beginning at 4:25 appear to be fossilized evidence of a dinosaur's presence in the past. Stand proud man, you have found your fossils!

Cooking With Cows Of course we'll always be European. There's a huge difference between the continent and the union. We voted to leave the European Union not the continent Europe.

Lewis Thompson oh but quite a lot of brits reject the idea of having anything at all to do with mainland europe, contintent- and culture-wise, not politically. Plus there are a minority of crazy people who think that voting against the EU means they will "leave europe" (funny image of someone screwing a big outboard motor on the east coast and driving the UK out into the ocean :P )
