The water that feeds Oregon’s creeks, streams, and rivers is one of the state’s most precious assets, sustaining towns and industries, fish and wildlife.
But for too long, people in the state have viewed it as an endless resource. Population growth, a warming climate, and increasing water demands make this misconception more outdated by the day.
If wild salmon are to have a chance to survive and thrive in this unfolding century, we must change how we understand and manage the water supplies that sustain us all. And fast.
In Finding Flow, Wild Salmon Center’s Oregon Water Policy Director Caylin Barter heads to southern Oregon to document the current state of rivers and streams in this rapidly changing region, and to talk about the paradigm shift we need toward responsible, science-based water management. WSC’s Oregon water initiative is working to make that change happen.

We really need to change the way we grow food and the way we eat. Meat needs to be a special meal for us, to be savored as a celebratory food and not a daily food. Meat production takes SO much water.

A great part of Oregon either is, or borders the Great Basin; a place with limited water volumes. I don't see how water can be put back into the aquafier as it gets dryer.
