Hi Les, good to see your daughter and grandson are into gold prospecting.

Hi Peter. How’s the prospecting going? Yes it is good to have the family out Looking around the bush. The only problem is that the gold is pretty scattered and has been in hiding lately. Have you been out for a scratch around?

I can tell Archer ‘does’ honestly have the patience and interest to become a gold detectorist prospector, because many other kids would not. ~Also the slightly deeper Coiltek Goldhawk 9” round is getting close to the same sensitivity as the Goldhawk 10x5” which is better for tight areas between objects.

He was very patient and really did enjoy the day out. We are very proud of his enthusiasm and the way he was able to focus and search for those elusive pieces of gold. I have heard some good reports on the 9” round Goldhawk. Being a round coil with a slightly bigger footprint, I would expect good depth from it. I reckon it would work well in this type of situation.

@@lesgold2132 ~ Yes, patients, enjoying it, enthusiasm, and focus. Also I see he listens following instructions then precisely executing the task at hand without any rude complaining whatsoever. All attributes of an excellent tradesman and potentially very successful gold detectorist and prospector. If you buy him a GPX6000 then also teach him holding the tongue, secrecy, and concealment of places where he found the gold. I got my first metal detector in the 1970’s at about 13 years old then my second one in about 1975 (Compass Judge 1 Automatic TR), so I also was a young prodigy, I had no mentors, I just had a my own drive to detect and reading Treasure Found and Treasure Search magazines at that time. ~I recently just received the Goldhawk 9” but never had a chance to use it yet. Using the GPX6000 if a person finds a whole bunch of about .05 gram gold pieces in one area then a person can also set up a highbanker or sluice there. I already have the Nuggetfinder Exceed. I am in Canada, so it’s a little bit different type of detecting than where you’re at. The cold weather is just passing so I’ll be able to get out soon. ~The Goldhawk 10x5” is very good for tight spaces, between rocks, grass, and trees also for bedrock. But I opted for the Goldhawk 9” because I have deeper ground here and the sensitivity is pretty close to the smaller coil.
