Finding inspiration, a dinner party & a new oil painting✨ a week in my life

I've already commented on this marvelous painting on your IG, but I think it bears repeating. My first thought when I saw this was a character named Thea from a guilty pleasure show I watch about a time-traveling, hip-hop-dancing, student ballerina called "Find Me in Paris". This painting captures so much of what I imagine a ballerina goes through just before going onstage. Just like visual artists, musicians and actors, I'm guessing some self-psyching-up goes on, along with preparation checklist run-throughs concerning the costume, the shoes, etc., and then I imagine they finally zone in, go onstage and start. It's pretty easy to imagine the gal in the painting is also mid-conversation, perhaps commenting on the size of the audience whilst peeking around the curtain. Even if a bunch of that was already in the reference, you captured the moment, and the mood, beautifully, including the dramatic feel of the theatrical lighting from backstage. Nicely done!!

Thank you I’ll have to look at that show! I found myself having all those thoughts while painting, even second hand nerves imagining what it must feel like before stepping on stage!

Your watercolour-sketches are very nice. I am impressed that you paint them almost like oils. Brilliant way to paint ideas and inspiration. Thanks for a great video. And do watch out when using a knife - that could have gone wrong in so many ways.
