Glad your getting into Ultra. To me it the franchise that the most "purest" as a Tokusatsu. Trust me when I say the production value of Arc has been a consistent thing from the franchise since it's inception. Despite having a lower budget than Toei due financial issues the innovatation and passion from the crew shines really well. And the franchise international reach is even more impressive once you research into troubles thanks to Chaiyo and why they prevented the Ultraman boom for decades.

Honestly after watching that clip of Blazar roaring where you see the mask deform, I very quickly added it to my "to watch" list

Shin Ultraman also benefitted from Anno being THE BIGGEST ULTRA FAN! There was no way he wouldnt give les than 200% to make the Giant of Light look and feel right

I turned into a tokusatsu fan in recent years by watching a few Kamen Rider shows, and just recently watched the whole of Ultraman Blazar on a whim, and after this recommendation, I'm starting on Arc too. I'm curious about a couple of the previous Ultramans, like the one just before Blazar, and Shin. Also the video wasn't about that, but I'm immediately grabbing KaizokuGokaiger because I've also been wanting to check out some super sentai!

@@varyagace Gokaiger was actually my first sentai, it's a great starting point! I'm always happy to hear more people getting into Tokusatsu, it's such a great genre! (And criminally underrated in the west)

Check out Ultraman: The Adventure Begins (aka Ultraman USA). It has a HD version floating around on KZbin right now, but TsuPro is redubbing the film. They showed it for the first time at this year's G-fest. Maybe check out the old version before the new just to get more out of it.

To me Kamen Rider is the best of the big 3 Toku shows. Really wish toku got more popular in the West.

Kamen Rider is probably still my favorite of the 3, though it's really like a parent trying to pick their favorite child, I love them all for different reasons.
