Getting the propane system installed and finalized in the school bus build. We found a leak in the line but got it all squared away by the end of it. Dale showed up in the north country and will be hanging out all summer long helping out on the builds. His Slacker Bus is on the property and we will get back to it soon.

Dale! Always brings a smile to my face. Hope you two had a great dinner! For a short second there i thought you had made the interior inside his bus without us! Then i thought, looks a whole lot like Navi´s interior and then i got the explanation.. LOL. If only we had those buses here in Sweden.. They are very rare and if i see one, most likely imported from the US. I guess your book can apply to our old buses when it comes to what to look out for, and if i was on the search for one i would definitely buy your book.. Have great weekend, and i am looking forward to see what you guys will come up with this summer! :)

suggestion: for winter and colder climates, keep 2 Propane tank blankets handy in the bus, they way they don't get tooo cold when cooking in the morning. add a stainless steel splash on the bathroom wall adjacent to your cook top wall. add a small 120mm computer fan and exhaust vent for your window. that way no smoke is inside your bus.

Awesome video very cool like the stove. 🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦 Oh Teflon tape is for gas because they use lot of black iron the tape is thicker to fill the black iron. If you look at black iron it is rougher than brass or steel.

The white tape crumbles & clogs orifices. It's never been allowed on gas. The yellow is plastic (ish), and doesn't crumble.

According to my research, yellow “Teflon” tape is double density (I.e., it’s thicker) to prevent leaks on larger diameter pipes.

Yellow and white are the same chemical makeup -- IT's all PTFE (Teflon). The difference is the thickness of the tape, since gas molecules are much smaller than water molecules. The white stuff tears a bit more easily when you screw things into place, so even if you use 2-4 times as much as you normally would on water, you wouldn't want to use it on gas.

I don't know the answer to this one, but when I switched out cook tops in my rig I was going to use one of the yellow flex lines you used. I think it's on the label, but I know the plastic bag it comes in, says they're not for RV use. I can't figure out why they can't/shouldn't be used, but after I saw that, I opted to flare a copper tube instead. The only thing I can think of is all the vibration over time will potentially crack the flex and they don't want the liability of you blowing up your bus????

Not really sure what gas lines you are using but if the yellow flex lines are the ones for home depot for home use, you may want to change them. They are not made for rv use due to vibration. I used those on a food truck build and failed my fire inspection.

I’ve noticed that in most builds that folks are using the grill size 20lb propane tanks. I don’t see many people using the bigger tanks (not sure the size maybe 30-40 lb) you see on RV’s. Is there a reason for that?
@navigationnowhere
@navigationnowhere 3 жыл бұрын
I used the 20lb tanks because of the little usage I will have in the bus. In my other green bus, I have a road rated horizontal 29 gallon tank mounted under the bus. I can say from personal experience, the mounted tank was great but sometimes annoying to find a place to fill it with enough room for me too “pull in” Truck stops a lot of times have pretty good propane fill stations.
