Good luck with the leak! It was good to see your buddy from Denver with the nice voice. It feels like that excursion out there was five years ago. If I may suggest why the bathrooms are so small is most likely it is the place we spend the least amount of our time. However I don’t like cramped bathrooms or water closets or whatever either. It’s nice to see your entire family together! Happy new year’s Mike!

Yo, just put some eternabond tape over that seam on the roof. That's what we use on Motorhomes. You can take it off in the spring and then do your repair. Or just leave the tape. Its lasts almost forever!

Rachel makes sense to me, the bathroom is one of the places in a house you spend a lot of time and feeling claustrophobic in the space would be terrible. I would rather have less space in an area I don't spend much time in or make the bathroom multi purpose so it ca be bigger. Happy new year to all of you and thank all of you for the great videos.

@@malazkm I purchased mine new from NW Bus back in 2012. I have a tour business in Seattle and we are shutdown with no idea of returning, so I thought it would be fun to build out a bus. Las Vegas Bus Sales has a good selection, but check with your local sightseeing tour company, they might want to get rid of a few. Check out my video about converting a bus, you'll see the style I will be converting.

When you cut the ceiling boards, do you cut the ends on an angle so the 2 boards make a tighter joint or no gap at all? Or do you just 90 them and butt them up to each other and hope for the best? Also, have you ever thought of cutting 1 or 2 groves in the back of the tongue and groove 1/3 to 1/2 way through so it is a little more flexible on the curved ceiling install?

Omg, Christina is as adorable as Rachel! I'm a woman who apprenticed with a cabinet maker when I was 25, because I wanted an armoire and couldn't afford one. 6 months later, he effectively retired and I was building pencil post beds, chests of drawers, dining room tables, built in entertainment centers, you name it. That was 35 years ago. I just refaced and remodeled my kitchen. These skills will always come in handy! Happy building! K

Hey Mike and Rachel. I have the same bus I just bought from AAA bus in AZ. I wanted the floor plan that you are doing, but I didn't see it before in a shortie, usually, it is in a longer bus. Of course, I know with the help of 6 windows it gives me that longer space from the back door to the wheel well. I am having a full mattress as a permanent fixture, up enough for a garage under it to be accessible from the back door. Thank you for letting me see how this floor plan will work. Rachel, I do agree with you about the tiny bathroom. Mike is nice and tall and thin, I am 5'1" and ahhh, well not thin like him. It would be nice to get my arms up to throw my boobs over my shoulders so I can wash under them. haha, I'm with you girl. I live down by Atlantic City, wish I was closer to you guys so I could get some help and I could help you guys. Anyway, thanks yous guys for sharing. Stay safe. Love yas

I do agree that a nice big bathroom with a mirror and even a vanity would be incredible remember, the bigger the bathroom is, the less room will be available for living space, bed room, kitchen and so on. So, buy a bigger bus lol. I really like the tiny busses but for me at 5’ 11” 290lbs I would probably be the bull in a China shop lol. So I plan to get at least a 10 window and then tow a vehicle

I love Rachel and Christina. It's nice to get a female perspective on your builds. I agree with Rachel 100% about the bathroom sizes. I never understood why so many people that build buses don't put a sink in the bathroom. I don't want to use the bathroom then touch the door with dirty hands to leave the bathroom to wash my hands in the kitchen sink. There are tiny sinks that can accommodate the smallest of bathrooms.

You can seal that leak with some Lexel. Just clean and dry the area, apply Lexel, put a cardboard box on top and put the tarp over it. It will sure in less than 6 hours. We used it in bathtubs to seal/adhere the pop up drains. You can then cover it with a strip of EternaBond tape for reinforcement and extra weatherproofing.

Rachel is right about the bathrooms. People make them to small. If you are taller than 6' or have a bigger stature you are always uncomfortable. A simple skylight would make all the difference for height plus you get natural light. I something that was a sink/toilet combo that would be perfect in a small space. Knee room at the toilet or the lack of it is another pet peeve. You stand up to try to pull your pants up and your nose is on the door. Put the toilet in a position that gives you more knee and standing space. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of builds the girls come up with. Oh and the ceiling looks fantastic.

Rachel, please check out the bathroom in Snow & Curt's van. I am looking to do a version of it in my future van/small bus build. My idea is to move the bathroom to the very back. It would give me seating/table at the back door when not in use. Under the one side seating will be the toilet, on the same side above will be the shower.

About that bathroom, you will probably not be wearing your shoes when you take a shower, that also gives you a bit more headroom. Possible alternative, install just a basin for warm water and use a cup to throw that water over your head. Primitive but economical.
@charlotte97838
@charlotte97838 3 жыл бұрын
I guess I look at it a little differently as far as space goes in a tiny space. It’s where are you going to spend most of your time. You only use the bathroom very limited time in your day and your bedroom is the same. But your kitchen and your living room is where you’ll spend most of your time so that needs to be more spacious. If you have guests over they’ll be spending most of their Time in your living room kitchen area. But then I guess it matters as to what kind of a guest it is. LOL

I remember Christina from a old video. Your sisters have awesome energy, what ethnicities are you guys mixed with?

Christina is the best and I am thankful my sisters want to join in on the bus. Our family is an awesome ‘mixed’ group, my parents fostered when I was growing up and we have had the joy of the some joining our family.

Why did you change your mind about using the plywood ceiling? I know it makes it easier to install the cedar boards that way but now you've lowered the ceiling by that much again. I would have thought that foaming the inside would have helped seal against some leakage.

He mentioned in a previous video that the price on the boards was too good to pass up, and he has it in the other build and likes the look.

The bathroom is such a waste of space to me, lol. So I'm ok with the smallest amount of space used used for it. I like Ivan's bathroom space. But I so want to see Rachel's bus come to life. 😄
