How insanely cool that this gal made an entire tutorial to address someone's comment and help them (and us)!? That's so considerate and helpful - really hard to find.

This is great! It would be helpful to have a part two where maybe the lights and darks aren’t so intricately interwoven. It just seems so complicated.

You know, I agree 😅 I was thinking this morning that maybe a negative space painting was too complicated. I’ll try to do some simpler subjects on KZbin shorts this week

That was very, very helpful. For those like me who struggle with loosening up with our painting, I think it would be helpful if you included the reference photo. I think seeing how you deviated from the photo and didn’t limit yourself with the details of the photo would be very helpful.

Hi! I had the reference photo on the right side of the screen for both paintings because I do think it helps to see that it’s not an exact copy

Loved this exercise. I have a multi colors, actually 36. You name the colors you use, but with these kits it doesn't give the names. I am not always sure of the colors I am using. Maybe this is a silly thing to be concerned about. I am so new at painting. Love your videos. You do a great job explaining things.

Hi. I'm new to your KZbin channel. This video was really helpful and I love the explanation as you work. I have just started a watercolour class with a local artist. My first attempt was no masterpiece but I enjoyed the process. I chose to paint a bee. I think I would say it was a loose painting, there were some hair details that I really struggled with. The tutor advised to run the corner of the paint tube through the wet paint. It did leave a line and a slight groove in the paper for the next layer of paint to go into. I wondered if you had any tips on this kind of detail. I will definitely be following you for more tutorials. I live in England. Thanks Aniela 🐝🖌️

Such a useful tutorial !!! Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏. I still have a hard time figuring out the difference between light and shadow obtained with the intensity of the colour (adding more or less water) and shadow obtained by mixing complimentary colours (ex adding red to green). When should we use one technique or the other? I don’t lnow if this makes sense but it would be awesome if you can explain this 🙏

This is a great video, thank you! Do you pause to let the paint dry between each phase (light, middle, dark values) or just go straight through? I feel like when I try to do that my paints all bleed out, maybe a sign I’m using too much water?

I just found your channel and am enjoying the videos! I am fairly new to watercolor. This is a random question but I've noticed you don't seem to mind when colors mix a bit inside your half-pans. Whereas I'm always neurotically rinsing my brush so that I can keep my colors pure. But it makes mixing colors so hard! Do you just not worry about it? What do you do if you need pure yellow and your yellow has blue in it??

This is wet on dry right? ( I’m a more intricate oil painter, it’s hard to get “loose” in my brain)

Another simple way to get values for a printed picture is to lay a piece of Red cellophane on the image. This will mute most colours.
@julieb7375 ай бұрын
Did you let it dry between all the green layers ?
@kristinvanleuven5 ай бұрын
Kind of. By the time I was done with the first layers they were pretty dry. Some bleeding for sure, but I didn’t dry it specifically
@KathrynTanner-t8f3 ай бұрын
Aha! So you are drawing in the really light/white patches, and stems, and paint around them. Common sense! I keep thinking I'll just leave a space while I'm painting. Doesn't work. Thanks!
