My experience dating African men (Nigerian, Ghanian, Ivorian, Sierra Leon) is that they will love bomb you to death from day one! “You are the meat in my peanut soup” lmaooo They will even say they love you in less than 24 hours. French and Italian men do this also. As an American woman, I feel like it is so bizarre to profess love on the first date. But in their eyes, it is romance.

Such a good convo and you and Nana Ashanti are great...y’all are two of my faves! Nana Ashanti brings a good point-a lot of dating/romance has to do with the cultural and societal constructs of Ghanaian culture. I’m Ghanaian and a lot of the things you ladies said about men are relatable and true in my experience...I’ve had a few Ghanaian men in the past who recently came to the States, and when they try to talk to me they bring those same ideas to America and I’m like...nah this isn’t Ghana bruh you gotta come correct 😂. Def gotta watch out for the married men with a whole ass hidden family and the diaspora leeches!

So if a woman decides to raise his kids with both parents in a traditional way, let fully embrace it and not be compelled with western ideas 💡of independent woman, feminist ideologies, Romance as portrayed by the West etc. I like my traditional values- it’s made me a better person. It's completely wrong to say that Ghanaian men are not romantic. You really need to understand the cultural dimension. In Ghana as in many African countries, we don't consider romance as something you display in public, it is only for the partners in their own space. This means that you can experience the romance only if you are in a relationship. If you judge from the pickup lines alone, you'll get it completely wrong.
@dorcasyeboah92903 жыл бұрын
I love my Gh men but Ghanaian men are not romantic.. and that is what they said period..if you don't know the difference between romantic and public display of affection say that 🤔... if your pickup lines don't make sense in the first place then maybe there was not enough effort put in it.. just saying..

I don't think Ghanaian men should feel offended. I don't see this discussion as judgment on all. It's good to have discussions and understand the cultural differences and issues. Coming from a Caribbean background the male and female traditional roles often became a source of contention for those who moved to the US and Europe. In modern times more women have education, careers and often work outside the home in addition to working at home. I also understand how when you return home you have to be careful and selective with who you trust and get involved with. That applies to both men and women. Some people really do believe all returnees are loaded with money. Most just have enough for living expenses. The roles of men and women are different in different cultures, if you date someone from a different background learning has to happen on both sides. Honesty, transparency of intentions and motives are important from the very beginning. Sadly, there are users out there on both sides so be informed and trod wisely. There's good and bad in every group on this planet.

We are living in a global village and believe it or not things are not what we know them to be these days. Humans have systematically carefully adjusted, adopted, and changed their ways of doing things and continually looking for better ways to improve conditions of life. When we declare a majority behavior of a people, we may be wrong in our assertions. Will you be surprised if data suggest that women rent more than men in Ghana 🇬🇭. Like you mentioned, the key denominator here is communication. As the saying goes one size does not fit all. So I like to refrain from saying this is how things are done in Ghana 🇬🇭 etc. we are living in a global village and people have been influenced by different cultures. People will say ohhh men in Ghana 🇬🇭 don’t go to labor rooms when their wife’s having a baby. Well let me ask were men in USA 🇺🇸 going to labor rooms back in the day? Just a humble question. Relationship issues, finding love, and marrying are purely based on communication and understanding. So I’d say the assertions may be flawed. Now men and women share responsibilities. And who is a modern women? Am lost here. What does it mean to be westernized? Are there any characteristics we should be looking out for? I enjoyed y’all conversation, had to watch it twice.
@GabbyMack3 жыл бұрын
I already told you my own in the chat box. This discussion is key points & topics that the youth need to have. Like you said things are changing but there is still room for improvement thats what I'm working towards & looking for. This may not go for every Ghanaian guy, but majority rules!

To be westernized means to adopt their culture, which means women being more feminist and independent and the down grade of muscularity of men. In my opinion Ghana and Africans in general should keep their culture and traditions, look what's happening in the west lot of divorce, single mothers and a lots of men going their own way( MGTOW) is a mess.
@TheSENYO3 жыл бұрын
@@passinthro6670 if i understand you correctly, they want us to play by their rules. Or , well That’s a tough ambition to achieve. Collectively tagging people is a no no for me. Reason I don’t agree with their assertion. Deal with that particular individual and not collectively tag 🏷 Ghana 🇬🇭 men as not being romantic. And the west is not a yardstick to measuring a romantic man. Your input is well received. Thanks 🙏

@@passinthro6670 thanks a lot , the West is not and will not be a yardstick to measure what qualifies a man to be romantic etc. I simply don’t know why most people still want to enjoy that lifestyle even when they move to the African continent. @GabbyMack3 жыл бұрын
@@passinthro6670 no one said adopt the whole culture. If u listen carefully to what I said, I mentioned that they can learn a few things, not to change yourself but learn a few things. I don’t expect a whole country to adapt someone’s else’s lifestyle it’s not even possible. Divorce rates is crazy everywhere. Even here in Ghana even though people don’t talk about it. But I tell you this I rather be divorce then to stay in a unhappy unhealthy marriage. A lot of our mothers & fathers don’t talk about what really goes on in the marriages but trust a lot are unhappy. They stay for the kids or because they don’t want society to look down on them. Or even just the thought of starting all over again will keep them in the marriage. There’s a lot to this topic trust me. We didn’t even get into a lot of things.

@joplexvi983 жыл бұрын
Well... I enjoyed this one. You both looked beautiful and I loved the topic. Very nice venue also. I never really thought about the love language being different due to culture. But it makes total sense. The fact that I can be denied rent as a single woman is alarming. I know that is not every landlord but the fact it happens is sad. As far the men, it seems in order to have a healthy relationship in Ghana you have to tweak your mentality as a westernized woman (almost downplay your independence) and communicate your intentions and keep your common sense on alert for shenanigans. It would be interesting to hear how Ghaninan men perceive westernized women and their response to the request to learn other love languages. Do they feel like they show adequate love and that is asking too much? Give us some more examples of the pick-up lines. I have a feeling it will be pure jokes. I think the issue here is that some ladies, especially those who have lived abroad or are born and raised abroad are having problem to adjust to the African culture and tradition, you guys don't need to westernize African men. Rather you should throw away all the false hair on your head and be the black and proud African queen, generally speaking. If a man really appreciate a lady, he naturally knows how to approach and seduce her. Real man doesn't need to learn how to approach a lady, whether she is educated or not. We are Africans and we don't need to be fluent in any foreign language to be able to attract our women. Stop that colonial nonsense. Ladies, if you want to visit Africa or live in Africa, it doesn't matter in which country, try to educate yourself in their culture and way of life instead of expecting them to adjust to your standard. This has nothing to do with being "civilised", we are already civilised before white men set a foot on our land, but being respectful to Africa and Africans. My men out there don't allow anyone talk you into insecurity. Just be an African man, you are naturally well equiped. I am sick and tired to hear people trying to talk down on Africans as never do good people. We are who we are. Show some respect in our way of life and who we are. Ladies, no offence intended.

@@dorcasyeboah9290 you are wrong, I am not a Ghanian nor am I married to a Ghanian. I am a proud African. And I have no issue to connect with women in general. On the contrary, I can easily connect with women because I love, respect and adore them, those who are real. Race nor tribe is an issue here either, for I have dated women of deferent races and tribes. Though I have no interest in those pretending to be Westerners with their bleaching and other fakeness. It surely has nothing to do with education but everything with self-esteem and awareness. I am a well travelled man, I have been to 20+ countries in 3 continents, just for my pleasure and personal growth. I really hate to see our people turned themselves into a people they are not and will never be. And in the process gradually losing their identity. Here in Europe I know a lot of white people who poke fun at "the blond black ladies with their blue eyes" in private even though some of them do date black ladies. So we should stop making ourselves a laughing stock amongst other races. Why is it that we are the only race that is always got assimilated into other languages, religions and cultures? My intentions is to move to Ghana, find the blessing of a wife, and maybe be blessed with a son. So, where are the single, serious women in Ghana? She can work, have her own, or whatever, just as long as she loves God, and is faithful, and respectful unto God, herself, and me. Thanks for sharing, Be blessed.

You have to understand why the men are not romantic, the women are always asking for stuff and money from these guys and after you expect them to have extra money on outings. The women need to change so the men can change

@M Owusu Agreed. Then it's better you both make your own money so that you both can focus on being friends and being romantic

you said I can't do that.....because you are used to USA culture and here in Ghana we also have a culture..you have to find a middle ground and compromise..since you want the guy to compromise..you should as well

That's true. Compromise is best.

No lies detected here 💯💯… Ghanaian men lack GAME. I don’t know what it is but even in the UK which is where I live, the Gh brothers here, do not have game at all. Like not one Kobo😩 The other west African brothers outshine then everyday. They tend to be mama’s boys who are often given everything on a silver plata by their strong mothers. I tend to get a whole lot of emasculated vibe from them. The ones who even have “game” tend to uphold the misogynistic archaic mindset which sucks. I don’t know about you ladies but GH men energy often comes across as feminine . Like dude , speak up and stop this pandering 🙄

😂😂😂 I’m actually dying here. You definitely raise some good points. Let’s just hope then men will change small

I do not have time to romance any woman, it's the woman's job to romance me. why is it always the men's job to romance a woman?
