Finding Magic Again in the Every Day✨ a day in my life in my cabin in the woods.

Happy Friday, friends!
As the days have grown darker & shorter, I’ve been struggling to find inspiration and motivation to film at the moment. I think a part of it has been dealing with some burn out after the early autumn season and the other part has honestly been the feeling like I have nothing worth sharing, nothing special or beautiful to give at the moment in my life with these dark, gloomy, cold, wet days becoming more and more frequent. But then it hit me. I was reminded of the very philosophy for which I even wanted to make videos in the first place, the very reason why I create & share the videos I do - to find beauty & magic in the ordinary & mundane moments. To find it in the daily routine, the everyday moments, no matter how repetitive or small or minor as they may seem. It is in these very moments that make life beautiful & full & whole. It isn’t these grand gestures, or major milestones or perfect days… it’s these seemingly unimportant moments - but in reality they are the most important of all. And so, I decided to film a simple day in my life. Sharing with you a glimpse into my days at the moment… and while they are all ordinary moments, in my mind as I experience & am present in each of them - I try to shift my perspective, romanticizing each minute, finding the beauty & magic of it all. I hope this can remind you too - that any moment in life can be made extraordinary, if only you stop & take a moment to find it.

I like Cottagecore videos, but this… this has my heart. Ordinary life *is* beautiful. You have lots of time outside with the companionship of your dog, you nourish your body and mind, you create with your hands… seems you have much beauty in your life. I enjoyed watching! I don’t do videos, but I memory keep. I do something similar. Once a season, I’ll set a timer and take a picture of whatever I’m doing every hour. I write a short blurb. It helps me document (and then appreciate) the ordinary rhythms of my life. It’s surprising how often it changes (although isn’t that how life is - change?). When I go back to look at it years later, I’m struck by how meaningful those albums are to me. I have my albums full of Christmas magic and vacation delights, but my favorites are always my Day In The Life albums. I’ve also extended them to pieces of myself when I’m feeling down about my body. For example, I’ll pick my hands. Take a picture of whatever I’m holding every hour for a day. See that my hands hold groceries to feed myself and my family, milk for my son at daycare, a steaming cup of coffee as comfort, my husband’s hand, stroking my children’s back when they’ve hurt themselves, holding photos and art and poetry. And then I can’t help but love and appreciate my hands - this part of my body I’m way too hard on. All of this to say, I hope you do more of these. You inspire me.
