All those lovely small bottles would be perfect for storing spices. Its fun to imagine the eclectic storage containers that might be in a mudlarkers kitchen.

I don't think I'd trust bottles from old dumpsites to be food safe.... no matter how good I manage to clean them, there's always something stubborn which I can't quite shift. I do want to make a spice rack though... a really big one, I have too many for the spaces currently allocated them. 🙂

Beautiful bottles, fabulous compact, and such a lovely view from your window! We live surrounded by the Ouachita Mountains in Western Arkansas, and I never get sick of seeing them. I always take time to appreciate the beauty I am blessed to be surrounded by.

I've just looked up the Ouachita Mountains, and they're indeed, very beautiful. I would never get sick of seeing them either. Only time I've been a bit bored by the view from my window, has been the last few days... thick, and long-lasting ground level cloud has hidden it all, leaving nothing but flat white. 🙂

Yes, I'm working on some craft videos. It's not as easy to film as mudlarking, which is just pointing the camera at stuff and picking it up... so it's taking me far longer to get the hang of than I thought it would. I'm currently working exclusively on editing mudlarking videos, hoping to get 5 videos ahead by the new year... so I can concentrate for a whole month on Crafting, and filming it. 🙂

The ink bottles - both the smaller ones and the master ink - WOW! Each time you pick one up, I am immediately transported back in time to a somewhat dim room, lit by kerosene lamp, with a studious person bent over a rustic desk, penning letters to faraway places. Sigh. I love them. Thank you for sharing, Tom.

I wasn't all that disciplined that day, I don't have much room for more bottles, and will have to cull a few from my collection to make room for some of these 🙂. Jars are easier, because I take them for storing things, and I don't have need for more really. Though, I might start taking Jars again, as people are so enthusiastic about them, they'd make good things for giveaways. 🙂

Yeah, it's a shame that it was so brutally bulldozed and 6ft of topsoil put on top of it. There must be millions of little treasures still under there. @tomburleigh9261 Жыл бұрын
Sadly, they've capped most of this site now too. There's still the field next door, heavily dug now by bottle diggers... not really as interesting finds, for me, but it's still fun to go there occasionally and have a pick through what they've left behind. 🙂
@tombrooks3812

There probably are dump sites in your area they are just harder to locate and work. Look to old records at the library or city hall you may be suprised what you find. Besides old dump sites you can also look for old outhouses they are great places to dig. In my teens a few of my buddies and i located one that had goodies from the turn of the century that nobody else had dug. The city we lived in incorperated in 1903 so it may have been their first dump site..I have great memories of that site which i belive is still there untouched from the 60s. Finding one of these sites and being first is quite an amazing feeling knowing that all you dig you are the first to see it in a hundred plus years. Good luck and thanks Tom for another great video.

The deer, I am told from a spiritual friend, is my spirit guide so I was made happy to know you were gifted with one. Thanks Spicencens. I feel for that poor fair maiden; those bottle digger holes come out of nowhere, and some are dangerously deep. Even a shallow one can turn an unwary ankle. Alas, no snakes though. The only ones I'd be likely to see in the places I go to are Grass snakes... they can be a bit stinky as a deterrent, but that's the biggest risk of finding one. 🙂

Thanks A Layne. I haven't decided how to do the leaving bottles video yet... reckon I should do two? One leaving them, and leaving some clues... and a follow up to see how many have gone a few weeks later? 🙂

Hello Mr Tom Burleigh, this has been a marvelous experience in larking. Love the many bottles, and unusual items that you have found. It's a good thing I am not going to this dump. I wouldn't be able to carry everything I like. Its all lovely. Thank you for taking me along. Very relaxing time. Greetings from the U.S.A.

Thanks Peggy. It was marvellous getting to lark on that field several times before it was bulldozed...I'm glad you thought that coming along vicariously through video was a marvellous experience too. It was a good day, with good company and good finds. 🙂

The compact was a wonderful find. It seems to have cleaned up pretty well too. Art college! I went to an arts college, but was in the performing arts department. Happy times sharing a space with so many creative minds whether they were artists, musicians, photographers or theatre folks. We stuck together like one big family. You’d have been in my gang Tom 😊 Maybe when you feel more confident with your art again you could do a Timelapse video of you working on a piece or something?

I did hang out with a lot of the performing arts department; they were better company than most. And yes, I was so happy sharing spaces with creative people, all working on their own projects... it made me incredibly productive in my own creativity. It's only recently, that I've managed to get back to near that productivity again, when I'm on my own. I think there may be some timelapse videos eventually, but Craft videos first. 🙂

I know I'm many months behind but I can't help to think about all the history lost when a dump or tip is bulldozed over .My own home sight and the area around was a large dump along the river here in Battle Creek MI I do find the odd bit of history from the 30s or 40s now and then .

Yes, it was a really great dump site for a while. I think our mutual friend James got there before the bulldozers too and has been several times to the newly dug (but not as good part) in the neighbouring field since. Are there any of the bottles I've found that you'd particularly like as a gift? I could give them to James to pass on next time I see him.

Lovely video Tom, what an amazing dump, alas to be no more like many others lately, all in the name of "progress" . Aww the plain bottles are my favourites. They're exactly the kind of bottles I use for my potion bottle store. I always take the stuff others just leave behind, like a human Womble lol!

25:31 you proclaim the bag is not meant to carry this much heavy. I don't know why but I laughed myself stupid thinking of my 👖 screaming that they weren't meant to carry this much heavy 😂🤣😂. I would have definitely broke my neck in all those holes. Walking past so much would have me not paying attention and down the proverbial rabbit hole I'd go. I've been known to have to drag myself broken and battered up from just the sidewalk. Weather here is below freezing now so only short jaunts to walk Baer and back inside to watch my favorite larks so thank you for your upload Tom. And blessings as always.

I do like that you laughed at that. I've not been making as many jokes in my videos, and I don't know why... it just hasn't happened much recently. It was certainly a warren of digger holes, that could easily be stumbled into there, I slipped into two by the edges crumbling beneath me, but thankfully kept my feet. I hope you keep safe in the icy conditions, and as always, blessings to you too Jeriann 🙂

Fun location besides the thistles I suppose. It be fun to see you put some treasures out and then see if they’re gone. A hide and seek so to speak. Lots of good jars and bottles at this site. It would be hard to leave behind! I hope to see you do some crafting one day too. Your video was my relaxing part of my day. The compact with the poppies on was a nice find being Remembrance Day has just passed. Sad to hear that bulldozers have come in and glad to hear the diggers are doing what they can to get as much out of there. Enjoyed the video today.

I didn't mind the thistles too much; they hardly scratched me at all through my jeans and boots. 🙂 Almost every bottle I've put out has been taken... I'm not sure yet how best to do a video about it. I could film putting them out, and then going around to see how many have gone in the same video... or put out two videos, and maybe give some clues in the 1st as to where they are. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂

Nice to see you again, Tom. Your beautiful summer early evening nicely juxtaposes with my late autumn snowy one. 😂 Also, you are the last person I would describe as having lost your marbles. 🤣🤣 I would very much enjoy seeing whatever you filmed of the mother duck with her babies. 🥰 I'm glad you found so many lovely bottles, stoppers, and other little treasures before the builders moved into the site. I haven't yet seen Bottledigger Tom's latest release, but it's on the list. 😁 If you want to record yourself caching bottles here & there around the countryside, I will certainly watch the result. It does strike me as major logistical problem to do so, however. Your choice. 🤔😜 See you next time. 😊💛👍

We've had a good Autumnal mist here today; the historic Graveyards looking at their best in it. 🙂 I don't think it'll be too hard to film caching some bottles... though one of my favourite ruined farmhouses is now being re-built, so I've got to find some more ruins if I want to make a decent video out of it. 🙂 I'll probably put the ducks footage up as a shorts video sometime in the next week. Warm regards, Tom.
