I went out very early for another dawn shelling adventure... I watched the crowds come and go... and then BAM; I found my two best treasures almost as I was leaving -after everyone else had left too. How does that even happen? I'm so surprised that no other shellers found these two gems up high on the wrack-line. I'll be sure to check there again after high-tides with big waves!!
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

I didn't even realise that Point Cartwright and the surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admire him a lot, and wow, it seems like he's creating new shelling content on KZbin? You can check out his amazing videos here:

I loved watching as you patiently removed the sand around the shell and then the excitement when you saw the Bailor was whole. Thank you for taking us along on this journey. The Coral is my favorite of the day.

G’day Pam 👋🏻💖 WELCOME BACK! Hehe, you didn’t waste any time catching up on the seashell adventures over here! I hope you had some wonderful shelling experiences of your own while in the cruise, too 🤩 Thank you very much for watching the back-log of episodes; the Deer cowrie here is fantastic! Also, the sub-adult Arabian is actually an Eglantina; I had no idea at the time 🤣 but that just make it even cooler! I’m so pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful shells today 🥰

Good morning Maddie, Looks like a very wavy day. The bonnets are beautiful , the augur shell was very big, the trumpet is awesome, the zebra shell is beautiful, I like the Triton shell was so tiny and just way to cool, the bubble shell is awesome, the waves and sounds the ocean makes just mellows me so much. The waves are crazy again. The beach branch would make a beautiful candle holder. I know have miss some but you know I enjoy all the shells you find. I know you know I would be at the ocean if I could. I think I would be at the beach as much as I could. Thank you again for another great shelling day. I hope you are enjoying your day.

Good morning Toni 👋🏻💖 I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday. I'm only just now catching up on messages 😜 Wow, once again, you have really learned and remembered the names, I'm so impressed! The bush/branch/fan? Would probably make a really cool candle holder 🤔 I uhhh dont use candles though 😂 but I have a sheller friend who really likes this stuff for decoration; I hope she can get to the beach soon to grab some seabush while it's plentiful after the storm. I did find some nice seabush yesterday that I did keep, so look forward to seeing it next time 😉 I hope you have a lovely day as well, and thank you so much for watching 🥰

G’day Kayle 👋🏻💖 Wonderful to hear that the kittens are doing fine; they must be such a dull-on bundle of joy every day ❤️ I’m so, so pleased that you enjoyed the video today 🤩 there was a lot to get excited for! The Deer Cowrie deserves to be the favourite, it’s such a beautiful little gem 💎 Oh yes, the brown-lined bubble shell was also a particularly lovely one... I have no idea if it’s normal to find so many bubble shells at this time of year, but I’m certainly lovely it! Thank you so, so much for watching, and I hope you have a wonderful day as well 🥰

G'day Maddie! Another fun day,loved them all The sub-adult Arabian-he is so zigzagy(looks like 2 different species mated and produced a large zigzagy hybrid-cool though😎)And the deer cowrie is also very lovely,so dotty and glossy!So ,I must admit,the cowries stole the show this time!(Although, the chocolate spotted auger is pretty nifty - despite his flaws)Thanks again for sharing,, it brightens my day to "go to the beach"and look at shells and other beach goodies!Take care and I look forward to the next treasure hunt,bye for now👋

G'day Lenora 👋🏻💖 It was a lovely day, I'm so happy that I was able to share it. The Auger shell was a surprising one to see; again, I wish he was a little less old/roughed up, but so fun to find a rarer shell 🐚🤩 Ohh I like how you described the sub-adult Arabian as a zigzaggy hybrid. The sub adult ones usually don't have their dark brown swirls yet, so all Arabians have these blue and brown zigzags underneath their top patterns 💙 they look so cool, it's just another reason to love the sub-adult shells. Although I will say; this one in particular is exceptionally lovely... Actually, I'm told now that this "Arabian" is probably a slightly rarer (for me) Eglantina cowrie. Super exciting! I'm waffling, sorry 🤣 I'm so happy that I could take you to the beach, thank you so much for watching 🥰

WOW MADDIE WHAT AN AWESOME VIDEO FOR VALENTINE DAY TO ALL OF US VIEWERS. AND HEADED TO 850. WOW! So many wonderful seashells today. And did not like you so close to waves scared me really. Japanese Carpet very nice, 3 Arabian cowries different sizes very nice, checkered Bonnet wonderful color, double cherry awesome, sun glass seashell woo hoo. Love yours more on you. Ring top gold top cowrie looks similar to the money cowrie. We have small false angel wings like your little one but I do not have one. The Oyster is a true Oyster from Ostreidae class which means it is not a pearl one I think. A wonderful day shelling. I cannot wait to go to OBX in April to find shells in a different season. You be careful and take care. Love and hugs from Trudy

G’day Trudy 👋🏻💖 Happy Valentine’s Day! I didn’t plan it, per sé, but it was nice that the video landed one such a special day ❤️💖❤️ Hehe, yes I’m so fortunate that my channel is continuing to grow 🤩 (keep scrolling down) Ohhh the waves, I mean, I did warn you?? I was pretty confident that I could dig-in and brace myself if the wave was more intense than it was. Plus, that section of the rock wasn’t even slippery, so all good! It was a big wave though, I think it even wet my glasses 👓! Hehe sunglasses seashell 🤣 I thought that was a bit of fun too! Ooooh yes, so many amazing cowries in their different stages of growth. The ring top and money cowries really do look the same! I have only ever found ring tops, but not a money cowries yet. I remember the difference like this: real money cowries look like a runny egg 🍳 hehehe 🤣 Can’t wait for you go shelling and find some of your own treasures too! I saw your message earlier today, and I’m so incredibly happy that you received your thank you gift 🎁 I have much to write back to you, but please wait a little longer. I feel like the day got away from me somehow and now it’s nearly bed time 😅 so this is just a little message back to you here for now to say you’re welcome, and thank you so much for everything you do 💖💖💖!

As for your question, I take a lot of shells home, but I also leave some behind. I keep the ones that are in the best displayable condition, while leaving damaged/chipped/worn shells. Most of the time, I try to pick up and film the better quality shells, so I can show everyone something nice 😉 so sometimes what I take or leave behind might be up to personal preference as well 😅 Thanks for watching 🥰

G’day Anita 👋🏻❤️ Sweet swirly seashells indeed 🐚 I’m doing great, but today has been one of those days where I only did a few things, but it seemed to eat up the entire day 🤣 where did my whole day go 😱?? Do you have days like that too? Haha anyway! Oh yeah, I really didn’t expect that second wave to come up so much; I think I got my glasses wet with that wave 🌊 I’m sorry for scaring you... I felt pretty confident that I could brace myself if the water came up higher, that part of the rock is thankfully not slippery 😅 I really love your picks for the favourites; that little pink grape is a really nice change from the usually colours they have! That Moon Snail too, it’s condition is actually really lovely and shines nicely in the light. Seriously awesome shells for the moon Snail lady 😉 I’m so glad you enjoyed the adventure today. Stay warm, and thanks for watching 🥰

G’day Reet 👋🏻🐚 Hehehe my narration; as in me screaming excitedly at the beach and getting weird looks 🤣 haha, I’m too busy looking at the shells to see their reactions 🤗 I’m glad you like it through! Oooh good question! When shells go dull, I use mineral oil (actually baby oil which is the same thing with a bit of fragrance). I’ve heard that people might also use a clear coat of spray something-or-other, and even clear nail polish. I haven’t tried those options yet. Luckily, my glossy cowries won’t go dull as long as I keep them out of the sun! Thanks for watching, Reet!

I have a feeling the sub-adult cowry at the 13 minute mark could be Mauritia eglantina (Duclos, 1833) based upon the narrow pinched ends and narrow shell??
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks Жыл бұрын
G'day Adrian 👋🏻 I wondered that myself as well 🤔 though only much later after getting home. I only have one other sub-adult arabica to base my comparison on; and that one has a much wider/fatter appearance, so this one indeed stands out for how long and narrow it is. The reason I initially dismissed it as an Eglantina was because: while the immature teeth curve around, the other side isn't curved... It's like a sudden flat side that I thought was attributed more to Arabians (though maybe that is how Eglantinas form??). I wish I had a larger amount of sub-adult Arabians and Eglantinas to make better comparisons. I hope it is an Eglantina; they are always a bit of a rarer find for me, and that just makes this sub-adult cowrie even more exciting and special. It's definitely one of my all-time favourite finds in any case 🤩 Thank you for your thoughtful comment, and for watching the video 🥰 it's always wonderful to have an expert's take on the matter.

G'day Pixie 👋🏻 I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the video 😔. This was a really exciting day for me, and perhaps we don't share the same energy about shelling?
