When the movie came out, my sister was inspired by a large hat box printed with skull and cross bones which is in the movie. She screen printed the same skull and cross bones on black denim and made a pair of trousers ❤

This is one of my favorite movies! I love it for the fashion as much as for showing so much of this era of NYC, which I think of as another character in the movie. I have a pair of leather boots with tiny silver studs that I call my "Desperately Seeking Susan" boots. Thank you so much for sharing this! So much inspo in one place! And yes, it is a must-see movie - even my boyfriend liked it when I made him watch it a year or so ago ;)

Totally! And I don't know how many times I saw "Union Bob" on Mozart in the Jungle before I realized that was Gary! (Mark Blum) Just looked him up - I didn't know he died from COVID in 2020 :( Sometimes I hear Madonna in my head saying, "Hey, Gar... got any pot?"

That's so awesome! Yeah, I think my style is probably influence by this movie too. The Susan character just seems so comfortable in anything she wears whereas Roberta, at least at the start, always seems so uncomfortable when she's wearing what she thinks she should be wearing. I was obsessed with with Desperately Seeking Susan, how fun! Have you considered a dramatic back piece for a beaded jacket? Love your green beading on your latest jacket. Would you consider Vogue 1993 view A for a new pattern? It recalls to me Beyoncé in the 2 sizes too small Chanel jacket. Thank you for setting our imaginations on fire.

OK, I totally get this movie as appealing to sewers. Its value is basically anthropological at this point. As entertainment it's a bit of a groaner, but it captures a certain place and time so well that you can really imagine being there - whether "there" is a gritty port authority toilet where you blowdry your armpits, or a godawful suburban Jersey pastel yuppie pad.
