Thanks! I like her too but I haven't made any Claire Schaffer Vogue patterns. There's a Chanel-style one - a lot of sewers tell me that they completed it. I don't think they like the result. I think they're just proud they did it. She didn't design that pattern. It's from the 1950's and I think she just re-wrote the instructions. I read them and found them confusing. If you're looking for a Chanel style jacket, I always recommend Vogue V7975. The instructions are very clear and there are lots of points in the jacket where it can be altered to get a perfect fit. Even if you make the mock up then decide it's not the jacket pattern for you, at least you have learned to make a jacket the proper way. Other jacket patterns don't always have good instructions, so making V7975 first is still totally worth it, in my opinion.

Thank you! The sleeve pattern is from New Look N6698. You can use any jacket pattern, like V7975, just swap out the sleeves. I used a discontinued jacket pattern McCall's M6041. It has a few drafting errors, I wouldn't recommend it unless you know how to spot and redraft mistakes.

@ I love the Chanel jacket look but as I live in a subtropical climate ( queensland)I have to make them with silks and linen we only have a few weeks of winter and even then it’s not that cold ,but you have inspired me me to embellish the next one

Oh, yep. The 'collar'? It's actually just a lapel (an extension of the centre front bodice piece, that then folds back on the front of the neckline under your chin.) There is no real collar, the back of the neckline is just a straight neckline, no collar. The wording in the instructions is super confusing. It got me too. It's a pretty dress though, I really like the pockets. 🥰👗
