Modern Aging - Holistic Health & Wellness After 50

Finding quality home care and home health in a convalescent home or a retirement home (elderly home, old people home or old folks home) and doesn’t have exorbitant care home costs for aging parents and loved ones can be overwhelming. The Care Resort Chiang Mai in Thailand is the model for an exceptional residential care home-utopia home care-where the elders feel that they are receiving care at home instead of assisted care at a nursing home. Nothing like getting healthcare at home! It is personal home care in an assisted living facility. There is also a dementia care unit. Care of seniors is treated with remarkable respect and dignity.

I loved the fact that the ratio of resident to staff is 2 to 1. The current facility I am staying at have a 20 to 1 ratio. The resort looks like a real resort, and I am certain that the level of care is phenomenal.

The woman caring for the guest looked like she really cared for her. There was a genuine warmth and happiness that exuded from her. Being looked after in a caring manner is everything. Oh yes, and the resort looks beautiful too. :) 🌴🌴🌴

Thai nurses are gentle with the seniors unlike in the US where nurses are caught verbally and physically abusing the seniors. Thai people have the highest respect for the elderly. They treat the elderly God-like due to the seniors great wisdom.

Looks wonderful. My nephew is helping me to get there. He will fly me out from our home in Colorado, get me situated and then return to get the house sold before moving out here with me. The two bedroom villas look perfect.

Exactly, let us know how it's going? Many people are interested. I bet if you get there and start up a KZbin channel on this topic alone you would have many people tuning in to it.

I am so considering moving in when I return to live in Thailand early next year. I have been in an assisted living facility in the USA for the past year and it comes nothing close to what Care Resort offers for a more livable cost. Thank you Peter for all your empathy for the elderly and infirmed. That is what I love about Thailand so much.

I think it will have to start with demand...if there are enough of us who say they want it, then they will build it is my hope! We just have to get our voices heard!

This guy is amazing. What a beautiful philosophy. As somebody who worked as an EMT for 12 years, I was in and out of nursing homes to transport patients, and it's insane what we have going on here in the US. What the gentleman in the video said is true--the ration of patients to caregivers is 20 to 1, and that is so bad for the patients and the poor caregivers, who are underpaid and overworked. And nursing home care in the US is 15k a month! I'm curious, how much does this gentleman's facility cost per month? I will not go into a US nursing home after seeing this. Beauty is very important as we age. Just to be in a clean place with space, a beautiful bathroom, a pool, to be able to eat what and when feels right for me. The ability to take walks outside... I'm so glad I found about this place. I've not seen anything in the US that comes remotely close to this place. This man has shifted where the money goes--he invests it in the patients, whereas in the US, the facilities are cash cows for stockholders. Someday those stockholders will get old need nursing home care, and even the nicest ones in the US will still be a drag to be in. If you could let me know the cost per month, in US dollars, of this place, I'd be grateful.

as of 2 years ago, it was about $1500/month which included rent, meals, laundry, daily nurse visits (this was for those who lived in a more assisted care living situation), access to group activities/outings -- it runs about $7,000 / month in the US which is unsustainable for 99% of people.

When can I move in? Sign me up! Such a dignified, welcoming place for seniors who deserve nothing less. I hope this begins a trend in senior living. Thank you for highlighting this gentleman and the good work that he is doing for senior citizens.

It's a simple and dignified philosophy to put the person at the center of care, not the money. sad that this has become more and more rare...but I think that change has to come from the bottom up. Thank you for watching!!

How wonderful if this existed in the US. Forget the water and the beautiful mountains but the philosophy is spiritual and what we need ! I have a mother with dementia and have visited several memory care facilities in CT. What I have found is staffing that is below what you need to accomplish giving our elderly, especially with dementia, a quality of living - being alive. Age and or dementia should not mean that your life is over and that you go to a place where they don't give you the power or sense of control you deserve. A place where they don't tell you when and what to eat or when to go to bed. Dementia can be very difficult for any care giver but to truly understand that time even minutes that someone effected can feel happy or truly connected to some part of their life is worth so much to them and their loved ones. All that I see, at least in CT, makes me feel that dealing with dementia on my journey is maybe to lead me to try and make a difference.

Yes agreed. Our father has dementia and is in a nursing home and it breaks my heart every time we go and see him. We do our best to visit him and bring him fresh meals, foods that he likes to eat. After I saw the Care Resort, I was inspired to see what is possible. They also have a dementia unit as well. With the growing number of people diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia, there are going to have to be substantial changes to the way things are done. It's just not sustainable the way it is...and my hope is that more people like you will come forward and voice your concerns and the substandard care. We all deserve to live out lives with dignity and in comfort...not so much to ask is it??

I tried checking and found this... www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jan/12/families-sending-relatives-with-dementia-to-thailand-for-care 1:1 around-the-clock residential care with fully-qualified staff - in award-winning facilities that look like four-star hotels - costs around £750 a week. This seems an excellent source to lots of information... theglobals.net/core/
