Finding the Malaysian Trapdoor Spider Liphistius malayanus in Nature - HD with slow motion

Liphistius malayanus belongs to the family of Liphistidae and is the largest member in this family in Malaysia .
Liphistiidae construct trap-doors and are are tube-dwelling spiders that spend most of their time within their tubes and are rarely seen above ground. Trapdoor nests are generally built in areas with moss or sparse vegetation and silk trip-lines radiating away from the burrow entrance sometimes make them visible if one has a carefull look.
The Malaysian trapdoor spiders are endemic to certain areas. Liphistius malayanus inhabits a small area approx. 1500m above sea leavel with moderate temperatures. They are protected by local law anyways there has been a huge decline of these spiders due to poaching for the pet trade. Because of the special climate within their habitat they don`t survive for long in captitivity and all Liphistius malayanus in the pet trade were caught illegally. So every species in captivity is a step forward to extinction in nature.
