Coremiocnemis hoggi inhabits a very limited area in the highlands of Malaysia with an unique climate.

I just found one dead mature male at my house ... Probably at the end of life span. This species is quite rare but still native in our country.

No, poaching has not been slowed. From time to time people are arriving and digging out whatever they can. Interestingly the highest density of burrows is found in areas with lots of people living around and passing by. This prevents them from being poached

if it saves a species from going extinct, catching a breeding pair to ensure survival, is justified yes. But in this case it seems like people want to catch, breed and sell them, since they are rare in the hobby. This is NOT justified at all! And even if you get your hands on one, the video states, that they don't survive long outside their natural habitat due to the special climate. No point in poaching them! This makes me sad.

Does decimating wild population by hindering genetic diversity a good thing? Sure they'll thrive in the hobby but what about what's left in the wild? You must take all variables into consideration before you make selfish decisions
