What a CF and a box of chocolates of different condensor varieties all in one place. Those cylinder shaped condensors must be some oldies but goodies, looks like ArcoAire units. Its amazing you are able to fix the bad wiring on the one unit without breaking something else in that area moving around! great video on the daily challenges you see.

Though it is LV, there should be conduit sheilding the wire from the elements. Piss poor layout ontop of that.

Wow! That would bother me with my OCD. My OCD is more of a hand washing OCD, but those condensers being thrown in there randomly. With them so tight together, then how do you get inside a condenser? Especially, if they're butted up to one another. I would call it a cluster F*ck. Kind of like first apartment. My first apartment was less than 500 square feet.

I'm surprised the power company tolerates that pad mount transformer in that mess. Wires are broken because other techs are stomping all over the GD line sets. Code enforcement anyone?

At least the unit you were serving was elevated. What a disaster to service, those things must run mighty hot too.

An install where the original contract didn't give 2 ****'s about the future serviceability. Only hurts the customer as some tradesmen may not touch the job; and others will bill a premium to engage in the headache. You're a patient guy.

really foolish to have a heatpump and run strip heat no matter how low the heating load is.

Joe, Would it make sense for the condo association to take out all those condensers and have one large chiller installed?
@Jon-hx7pe

would mess up billing. what would be nice would be to enforce side dis-charge unit only to free up space there.
@eDoc2020

@@Jon-hx7pe I think there are ways to bill the water loop from a shared chiller. Another option would be to circulate unchilled water and put a water-source air conditioner in each unit.
@Jon-hx7pe
@Jon-hx7pe 3 ай бұрын
@@eDoc2020 not worth the trouble especially in a heating dominant climate. a all electric condo complex like that in michigan would do better with individual inverter cold climate heatpumps - would save a lot in winter.
@eDoc2020
@eDoc2020 3 ай бұрын
@@Jon-hx7pe I think the main thing is they don't want any equipment to be visible. The unchilled water loop I am thinking of would work for both heating and cooling. If there wasn't a desire for individual billing then a 4-pipe (cold loop + warm loop) setup would be the best. A central heat pump would provide heat recovery if one tenant wants heating while another wants cooling at the same time. A large VRF system would also work except then I'd be worried about vendor lock-in. I'd also be worried about refrigerant leaks in a VRF setup but that problem also exists in the current setup.

@@eDoc2020 depends on high much control and responsibility the condo corporation wants. i would prefer to have my own equipment and choose what gets installed when replacing, pay my utilities directly and not be at mercy of a condo corporation for hvac stuff. but then again I am anti-condo and paying monthly fees on top of mortgage/taxes to begin with. it's a glorified apartment with all the disadvantages of both owning and renting.

I like how they put it on stilts so as to suck maximum condenser discharge air from all its neighbors. Custom as fuck.😂😂. I hate condo complexes with a passion. They are all hack jobs like this,almost always. Imagjne being that downstairs tenant whose window is right next to that condenser area in summer.😢

It's (technically) a heat pump unit so it's probably elevated in order to stay above snow in the winter.
