Thank you for this helpful video. I liked the squat toilet infographic and the japanese mini lesson at the end. The only place we had a hard time finding a public restroom for some reason was in Akihabara. We ended up circling back to a public park that happened to have one.
@TokyoJoeShow6 күн бұрын
@@sydneycomstock5447 Thank you for watching and for your kind comments. Akihabara, I use restrooms at the train or metro station, UDX Akihabara (office building), Yodobashi Akiba (store). By surprise, I also found that there is a 100 yen toilet at a public facility in central Akihabara called Oasis@Akiba. I never knew that there’s a pay toilet in Japan. It’s quite a shock for me! I also noticed that there’s a 100yen toilet at Tokyo Station. It’s bizarre for there’s also a free toilet 30 seconds away. So I asked and learned that the pay toilet is mainly for restaurant customers. The customers are given medals to access the restroom.

Drivers seem to obey the rules of the road and not once did I witness any road rage. As for bathrooms I found every bathroom was well maintained and clean….especially compared to public restrooms in North America. Bidet’s should be available worldwide. Here is what I observed about convenience (konbini) stores in Japan - 1. The convenience stores in less densely populated areas usually have public restrooms. They are harder to find in the more densely populated ones, especially high traffic business areas. 2. Sometimes you need to ask for permission to use the toilet. This is rare, but just be aware and don't be that rude Gaijin. 3. For some reason, I found that upon entering, most of the restrooms in the konbini I've visited are on the left side of the store. Might be a coincidence though. 4. Gently knock on the door before entering, even if it's obvious nobody is in there. People sometimes forget to lock the door (rushing or elderly).
