The front door is a genkan. And your grill is a fish grill, not a oven. You have to add water to the bottom of the grill before you grill fish. And you can toast a slice of bread if you like.

Wow!!! What a nice apartment for only $400!!! It might be on the smaller side, but that just makes it cute and cozy. It even has a kitchenette and bathroom, what a good deal! I'm traveling to Japan next year, and considering moving there permanently, after watching your video I feel like it's a little bit more "doable" now. @bernoGarcia Thank you! 😊 Yeah, I'm probably gonna have to get creative with where I relocate, Tokyo, Kyoto ect... are fashionable and exciting, but also super expensive for cost of living from what I've been told. Where are you located? That’s an excellent price for an apartment in Japan. My son is stationed in Japan lives off base in a house. His rent is around 1200 a month. It does have three bedrooms and a yard somewhat. I love how they keep the shower separate from the restroom. Good luck on your journey in Japan. I loved it when I visited. It is a fish grill, not really a gas oven in the sense that it gives direct flame. You could use it not only for fish but also for meat, vegetables or bead and you could find recipes in internet using that fish grill and you could buy cooking metal containers to put into that grill, cheap ones from NITORI or DAISO, fancy ones from internet or maybe decent department store’s kitchen floor. I recommend to get one since cleaning would be much easier than putting your food directly into the grill, especially when renting the property. Please be careful though for fire accidents, or foods’ overflowing (cleaning the grill would very hard), never take your eyes completely off from the grill, it is not as stable as gas oven😊 Enjoy Japan!

It’s all in what each individual wants or is willing to give up, right? You could have a big closet and live in the U.K. or a big apartment and live in the U.S., or , a small apartment and closet, and live in a cool city in Japan. :) 🍜🥟🍢🍡⛩🏯🎆🗾

Sometimes you have to put your key into the switch at the door to turn on the whole apartment electricity. When you leave and take your key, the power is disconnected.

Yeah that’s mainly because Fukuoka is cheaper then other cities and also with the weak yen the prices appear lower for foreigners.

The apartment looks fantastic, I'm so envious! Even that view is really good. The little 'oven' is a 'fish grill', btw. Fairly common in Japan, from what I gather. I imagine you can heat anything you can fit into it, not just fish :P

Electricity doesn’t effect the toilet though.😄 But you do need water, to make it flush (if you didn’t have the water hooked up yet, in a pinch, you could just pour from a store-bought gallon jug into the toilet’s water tank and it would flush.🚽🧻
