I feel like your art style is exactly that - your tastes and preferences. It's only really a matter of two things: first is whether you have the skill to execute it (which is why you should learn your drawing fundamentals) and second, exploration as she highly emphasized. The more you explore different mediums and subjects the more you will know what you like and what you don't. Art style needs time so if you've been only doing art for a short time, stop obsessing with it too much. Have fun exploring the mediums which is what makes art exciting imo. There's so many things to explore whether that be mediums, subjects, and different art styles. I feel like knowing this puts you at ease and finally move on and actually do art. Hahaha Oh, posca are paint pens which means that they cover/sit on top of the paper similar to acrylics and gouache. The touch five if I'm not mistaken are alcohol markers which seeps into the paper which is why they don't show up nicely on top of a medium like a paint pen.

Thank you for this and for the advice! I've had the same concerns and wonder what my own style is, or what name might be applied to it. When people ask me what kind of work I do, or what style, I usually say something like "It's somewhere between comic book and illustration, maybe having a bit of caricature mixed in". Your work is wonderful. I enjoyed it!

This is so relatable! I hesitated for so long because I didn't want to do what everyone else is doing. Now, Im just enjoying making art that feels right to me although it may have been "done" before. Must have missed this installment earlier. Style is hard to pin down since a great many things we see or absorb have differing effects on our temperaments at the time. If I find my work getting overly busy, and contrived, i force myself to go the other way, restricting my color choices, staying to four, maybe five hues which I'll permit myself. Will abandon all my finer instruments, use rags and larger brushes, a mix of flats, filberts, and rounds, to go after the rudiments of the design only. Just to blur the line from where I have been, and let me express differing dialogs that help with the voice I want to use. Its about communication and who we are trying to reach out to. What works for some groups will never reach another using the same means, so we must amp up or subdue the artiface, just to speak to them clearly. Asking questions of our craft, and whom we want to reach is often more important than what we are trying to convey. Art makes that possible, and like music is convertible to a class of mindset, where language is often lost.

“Studying different artists that I really love and whose artworks I really admire...” Me: *watches each and every video you put up* 😂😂😂 That aside though, your tips are always on point with what I need to hear at specific times. I also love the fact that you encourage people to experiment with non-watercolor paper when doing watercolors! It’s something that I’ve been trying na for the past couple of months and I’ve really enjoyed it. Plus, it frees up the pressure of making perfect art haha. As for the critiques, OMG noooooo i don't thibk I have the credentials or anything pa to critique anyone pero I'm still thinking about that anime scenes in my style that you suggested.
