Before applying hydraulic cement, you should moisten the area with a spray bottle of water... that will prevent the concrete walls from drawing water away from your cement.

Question regarding the painting of the walls and ground with Drylok. My home was built in 1976. It seems that when the foundation was poured, the concrete mix was more than likely mixed incorrectly. The surface is very sandy. I can sweep and vacuum the ground and still have fine sediment on the surface. What can I do to help eliminate this so the Drylok stands a chance to adhering or bonding to the surface?

If I install a waterproof membrane on the wall can I install the rigid foam on top of it? Thanks
