So what I’m getting from this is… whatever’s intuitive and makes sense for the music you’re playing(ie keeps your hands in a good placement to reach the next notes and requires the least amount of “jumping”) is how you should place your fingers? That’s a huge relief. This is exactly what I’ve been doing! I’ve even adjusted my fingering in some movements because I realized I’d be able to move along the keyboard more fluidly and without searching around if I made some adjustments. I’d been learning a piece on my own for fun, and I wasn’t sure I should go much further since I didn’t have a teacher and knew nothing about finger placement. I’ve played trumpet and violin in the distant past, and fingering is very set. But I watched my mother play piano as I grew up and I’ve been so desperate to play my whole life, I took my memories of her movements and “imagined” I could play. I appreciate this so much! I’ll keep on practicing in the most intuitive ways and adjusting to suit the notes. Thank you!

Probably the best piano fingering-lesson. It boils it all down to simple logical rules. Those few negative points it has gotten are probably only because of the low (240p) video resolution; the content however is pretty much flawless. Thumbs up!

I thoroughly admire your teaching style, sir. You teach slowly enough for me to learn and just fast enough to keep my attention. Your videos are very concise and they lack the tedious, irrelevant fluff that is typical of most piano tutorials on youtube. After I purchase my own piano, I'll surely be purchasing some of your other instructional piano media. Until then, POST MORE VIDEOS! :) Thanks so much.

Thanks for this quite practical and logical lesson... Since I have never had a proper piano lesson (yet to find if there's any serious teacher in my part of the world) and have learnt to play by ear and fingering by intuition, I always had the confusion if I'm using the right finger (for eg. Thumb on black key when playing 2nd inversions of chords) but your video helped me in clearing out the doubt. Don't get me wrong... I don't undermine the importance of proper lessons.

Great video, I was always interested in the methodology behind the fingering while playing piano, I just have a quick question and sorry if my message ends up being sort of long but I'm getting back into playing the piano and I would like to have a full understanding as far as the piano in general and also theory, I would love to get to the point where I can read sheet music fluently rather then learning a tutorial only to forget it later on which usually happens with me. If you can point me in the right direction I would like to know where should I start with my quest on becoming an advance pianist reading sheet music fluently? Right now I'm just all over the place learning with theory books, KZbin lessons, researching online and printing out sheet music.

stranahan07 Even you question is above one year old, I would like to answer your question. Though, I am a beginner myself. BUT... I have study 5 hours a Day +/- the last few months - the music theory, and How and what to practice daily... For your question, and a good teacher said to be aswell - read sheet music EVERY day. Start on a sheet that is just below your current level, and don't train the same piece over and over again. What you Are looking for is called "sight Reading" look it up. There is manysight Reading sheets free on the web to start With.

How can I ncrease speed, I am slow and can't play beyond 120 metronome speed without mistake .
@samlee25629 жыл бұрын
+Devidas Dandgaonkar to play faster you have to really master playing slow, use your metronome and try to get perfect technique at around 50 bmp, imagine it's in slow motion and there can be no fast movements, when every motion is as precise, fluid and efficient as you can possible make it begin to increase speed. If you try to practice too fast you will likely learn to play hastily and your technique will be sloppy, this is true for many instruments like guitar, bass and violin also. good luck, practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect :o]
@devidasdandgaonkar64219 жыл бұрын
Thanks , sir.
@RSProduxx7 жыл бұрын
that´s what everyone will tell you for every instrument... playing fast is something you train when you perfected your technique. Well, as Sam said as well :) i know it´s tempting to speed it up, but you really have to force yourself to keep it slow.... nothing against trying how quick you can go from time to time, but the focus should really be elsewhere :)
