Great explanation about tracking it in, in the direction that you do. I never thought about how the grooves would help hold the grass seed from running down the hill with the rain. Smart!

That may or may not involve trespassing for some jobs and might not be an option, depending on property and owner. Even when it's technically alright people tend to appreciate being asked and giving consent about that before.

No rock on the Spillway? This looks so good from where you started. I kinda had a minds eye of what you were describing back early on. Can't wait to see the road cut with a bridge so boat can transition from upper end to dam side. If I was the owner I would have added some fish sanctuaries, tires, logs tied down, some sort of structure for fish habitat. Hey Chris, What about the bazillion loads of sludge y'all hauled up on the hill? You have to spread it out?

Will you be using any rip rap in the spillway to slow down any overflow or just relying on the grass?? Also I commented a while back on putting fabric under the sand to keep it from sinking into the mud any thought on that?? Thanks love the vids.

Chris is it worth investing in a Trimble system, you seem to be grading most of the time. Just wondering, love your videos, watching you I’ve gotten better using my CK30 Kioti with a backhoe. How much of a sideways slop can you run in that dozer with out tipping over? It seems you can run that at a pretty good angle safely I was just currious if theres a rating or a guage in side to tell you?

A dozer normaly wouden't tip over but just begin sliding, because the wight center is somewhere in track hight. A gauge is rarely seen in dozers but when then it's more for the operator to hold a given angle, not to alert about tiping danger.

I would have thought you would just go ahead and spread sand down on it now to about 6 feet below the water line; does it wash out that bad? Even if it fills quick? Hard to believe and nice to see a project you have worked on for 8-9 months all finished but the grass seed. Are y'all putting that in or hydroseeding the whole thing?

my grandfather lives in a subdivision / community pond / lake. they have a spillway that they’ve had to put concrete down to keep the dirt from washing away. My question is why only dirt? Why not put down concrete as a extra barrier to keep the levee from washing away? I know the overflow pipe you said should be big enough. But you never know what mother nature will throw at you.

I think I would try to talk the owner into letting you put some large # 1 stone, rip rap 4 inches or even a little larger from Lake start to the bottom of the spillway, I'm thinking you guys get a hurricane from time to time that area. Tom you should watch some of Chris’s videos on digging basements somehow he can see grade like no other I’ve worked with. Built into his genetic makeup for the amount that he uses a laser , grade assist would be a waste. If you put a machine and operator side by side with grade assist against Chris without by the time the grade assist was all set up Chris would be halfway done with the task he’s just that good
