I love the top, the fabric you used is gorgeous. Do you think it would work in stretch cotton ?
@StitchyBee3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jenni, I wouldn’t choose stretch cotton for the Kingfisher as I think it benefits a really light fabric. Stretch cotton can be a bit stiff for tops, it’s better used in fitted trousers or a dress which requires structure 👍🏻 Thanks for watching 😊

I love both pieces Cheryl! Your top is absolutely adorable and I knew it would be when you showed the fabric you wanted to use in your other video. This dress will be beautiful on you and complements your complexion some nicely! I do understand how you have to tweak the fit a little to get that “perfect for you” type of look, but it truly is a beautiful dress!

I bought the cape "pattern" .Yours looks lovely but I would have liked to see that and your other makes on.I love the pink herringbone you've chosen and the silver blue is beautiful.perhaps you can show them on in another vlog.

Thank you for posting Cheryl worth waiting for :-), I love the Kingfisher top the pink stitching finishes it off perfectly. The wrap is something I really want to make so can't wait to see your new fabric on Wednesday! (don't tell anyone though as I've promised not to buy anymore fabric this month) Love your make, the lining was worth the effort :-Dx

thanks Gaynor 😊 Your fabric secret is safe with me 😉 Just shout if you ever need plain packaging 😁

Hi Cheryl. When I’ve had that sleeve finish (which is on a few) I sewed that raw seam by hand to one side which really improves the finish. Great makes. 😁
@EileenR116 жыл бұрын
I love how the lining looks on the wrap, so it was worth the trouble. Will you be suggesting some lining fabrics on Wednesday? That would be great. I think the top looks lovely on you also. I need another beginner one to try. I didn't go for it initially as it is so boxy and I thought it might be quite unflattering, but I think fabric choice makes a big difference. The very strong contrast in the example the company use makes it look more rounded and boxy than your more subtle choices. Looking forward to the next video.

Another fantastic and honest but kind review. You have such a lovely presenting style, Cheryl. Love the top - I have the merchant and mills farrow pattern which is similar - so I might try with some silky fabric I have. Xx

The kingfisher top looks great, mixing woven and jersey is a great idea. Some ready to wear tops I've had in the past from Jigsaw are made like this. The velour at the neck makes it look like a luxurious cowl and what a fab present. Will look forward to seeing your dress once you have altered it to fit.😊
@StitchyBee6 жыл бұрын
ooh yes I agree with it being similar to Jigsaw tops. I always think a multi-fabric pattern adds a bit of an edge.

Cheryl I did see on another you tube video about using embroidery stabiliser on stretchy fabric seams to make it act like a woven they then can be torn away afterwards, this might have worked but it looks great
@StitchyBee6 жыл бұрын
now that's a sensible idea Rachel. I think I was a bit impatient to make this so fast as it was such a simple pattern. I'll get myself better prepared next time 😊
@bevtooth6 жыл бұрын
Most RTW Tshirts are finished the same on the armholes as your blue ponte dress. The seam is then flattened by a few stitches along parallel to the seam.

Oh I forgot to say. That Kingfisher is totally amazing. I'm so in love with it. Shame I hate sewing with such floaty fabric. It looks beautiful on you,!

Can't wait to see what you have in Wednesdays video. Hope you manage to alter your dress ok, and I think that a striped one would look awesome on you 😉😁😘

Great makes and I LOVE your top especially, Cheryl! With your top, was the stretch neckband much sorter than the woven body? I'm wondering if I need to make the neckband on my Linden a bit shorter than usual when I make it - I'm going for the bodice in woven (Liberty wool - it's gorgeous!) and the rest in jersey/sweatshirt. Thanks :-) Jo xx
@tandjwoods21376 жыл бұрын
(Sorry, I meant lengthen the neckband! So it doesn't pull so much on the woven)
@StitchyBee6 жыл бұрын
T and J Woods thanks Jo, yes I agree, the neckband on the Kingfisher was not much shorter than the neckline, so I’d lengthen yours for a Linden. Having said that, the Linden neckband is on the long side so it won’t need changing much 👍🏻🌷

Thanks, Cheryl, that's really helpful. I'm going to cut it long, then pin and baste it and see how it looks. :-) xx

Hi Cheryl, thank so much for making and showing the wrap, I have many planned for Christmas presents but going to make my own first (I’ve found an ice-blue herringbone wool and liberty lawn for the lining). Would you be happy to take a photo of you wearing yours and pop it on Insta? Or message it to me privately on insta? I’d really like to see one on an actual person and the few that seem to be on Insta are just hung on hangers.
