I ride a 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R. I bought it new and put over 55,000 miles on it and only recently had to have a full tune up and replace a leaky valve cover gasket. Runs like brand new again.

Awesome vid. There are so many common ideas here. Larry at PDQ is building my 1109. One question would you be interested in making a set of frame plugs for a fellow Zrexer? I would gladly pay for your time! Thanks Chris

Absolutely fantastic build, Brian! I didn’t catch whether or not you installed block-off plates on the valve cover. I have an 03 with jet kit and Yoshimura end can on mine, but get a little more popping on deceleration than I would like. The bike was dynes at 129 + hp before installing the 4 degree advancer, so it runs fine. Do the block-off plates reduce this issue? Your work is very inspirational and I am awed by your machining skills. Thank so much!

Thank you for your kind and supportive comments.. Yes I installed Muzzy Block off plates..(I did modify them though so they fit "flush" with the cam cover..) Check out this video of my completed engine prior to installation here.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWW6k2Olmah2hrMsi=2Dskan-CjKjSOS9a God bless BG.

Your work is impeccable. Your build brings the bike to what I would say is better than how it came out of the showroom. There is one question I must ask, do you ever actually ride these wonderful creations, or are they relegated to being more or less museum pieces? I ask because I saw that you acquired the bike in late 2017 with 23,200 miles on the odometer and here it is some 6 1/2 years later showing an odometer reading of approximately 23,600 which averages out to 60 miles a year, or about an hours time in the saddle. Just left me wondering....

Thank you....,well I have Four bikes and two cars so my time on the road gets pretty spread out LOL.. Coupled with the fact I work 11 hour days 5 days a week in my "day job"........ The 01 was "off the road" for most of last year during its engine rebuild and ............,this is Northern Ireland..(It rains....A LOT.😂) Needless to say None of my bikes EVER see rain....,so when I eventually do get some "free time" I'm pretty picky on the weather... ........bottom line.......,if there is a cloud in the sky then its a No..😅 Besides......,I actually enjoy building them probably at least as much as riding them... Anyway......,Thank you So much for your kind comments and for following along.. It really is a pleasure ,not a chore to build these motorcycles to the vision I have of them in my head.. God bless you.. BG.

@@brianwells5258 Thank you for satisfying my curiosity, and keep up the good work. It is obviously a labor of love for you. May the Good Lord Bless You with some warm, cloudless summer days so that you might get out and enjoy your wonderful creations. There is no better therapy than a spirited ride on a beautiful day to put a smile on your face. Stay well and enjoy the summer.

As always, awesome build Brian. Any plans to do some dyno work? Maybe vs the stock zrx engine? What do you estimate rear wheel HP to be, 140, 150 maybe? Just real curious as to what to expect when I get my engine work finished. Thanks for the videos, the amount of work being done is considerable. Keep up the good work.

Thank you....👍 I never am overly interested in HP number on a dyno etc as every dyno is different.,and "numbers" mean nothing to me... I have booked this ZRX in for its MOT next Monday so after that it'll be on the road. I am more interested in doing a Back to Back comparrisson "on the road" with my other ZRX which although highly modified is still running the stock engine.. (If ya can't tell the difference "on the road" in real world riding then it ain't worth doing...) I'm curious to experience the 6 speed of this one versus the 5 speed of my other.. Also, I should be able to notice the performance of the ZZR 1200 Pistons and Cams of this 01 versus the Stock 1200 motor that my other bike is running Having said that.......,My 05 "Will" be getting its own full engine makeover as well... It is due a replacement block..,big bore JE 1224 High Compression pistons..,Yoshimura ST-1 Cams..,double valve springs..,ZZR 1200 six speed gear box...,Slipper clutch etc..etc Oh and also running Yoshimura TMR-MJN flatslide Dual stack carbs.. Of course I shall document here the build..,which is in the pipeline..👍 God bless BG.

Thanks for the reply Brian. As for the numbers, I like how the dynos will give you a fuel mixture reading, as I've got a set of RS40s on a stock engine. Which is probably a bit large, but it gives me a reason to either go high compression and cams, or big bore, high compression ànd cams, plus another thousand for a Nikasil replay. So, probably just the highh compression without the overbore and reline. I'd just like to know how close my jetting is, to keep away from being to lean. And no matter what a lot of guys think, their seat of the pants jetting can always be improved by actually measuring what the mixture is. Thanks again Brian. Robert.

Yep...,great points well made..,however my preference is a good quality AF meter ...eg. www.innovatemotorsports.com/mtx-l-plus-digital-wideband-air-fuel-ratio-gauge-kit-3-ft.html Especially for fineky carbs.....on the Road, related to how "you ride".... May I wish you every success with your build... BG.

@brianwells5258
@brianwells5258 3 ай бұрын
In what way..?. As mentioned in the Video it is a Black Widow stainless steel exhaust system (headers and link pipe) which I painted with Satin black Barbecue paint....,married to a Stainless Steel and carbon fiber exhaust canister. I machined the adapter to allow the Can to fit... Check out my other videos here for further details..
